"If you look well, you'll see that my knee got out of place in the beginning of the second round. It hurt so much, it was difficult to get up and it took a little of my focus. I will have an MRI scan and see whether it is serious and when I will be able to train. I should have had more faith in my stand-up, listened to [coach] Rafael Cordeiro. Strategically he (Overeem) was better. Perhaps, if I hadn't pulled the guard so many times, I would have won. He didn't want to go to the ground with me at all but it is an MMA fight, you have to do the ground game as well. I think it is funny that [opponents] call me to go at them and I do, but when I call them to the mat, nobody does."

Yeah that is a pretty fucking dumb statement to me. You stand with them because they make you stand. Generally your opponent will only play to your strength if you force them to.

I tried to knock him out, I showed that I was doing well in the stand-up, but I also wanted to do the fight in the ground, because I was very confident in my jiu-jitsu. It ended up being really bad to pull guard all the time, I burned a lot of energy, it was not good. When I was successful in the very end of the rounds, I found myself without much strength. I'm just amazed that no one will go to the ground with me even though I'll stand with everyone. This happens all the time. Even at striking I did not see the K-1 champion that knocks everyone out show up, he did not show much, he did not throw any strikes meant for knock downs, and as Fight Metrics showed I was able to throw more strikes. I made the mistake to pull guard too much, to want to finish it any way. The fight was not good for either of us, but he did not beat me, I lost (on my own).

Well if he dragged Overeem to the ground, which he idi, that should be considered a takedown for Werdum. I thought Werdum won, and I know I am not alone.

Caught a replay of the event last night (by the way glad with Zuffa in charge they still do multiple replays of events), anyways Barnett completely played it safe even though he dominated (smart strategy), second time seeing the promo is better . Reem was loading up for the KO, but Werdum was getting off before he was ready to throw. Again Reem needs to work on his striking defense and no reason he should have gassed like he did in that fight, he was huffing like a mother fucker at the bell.

Pre-Zuffa they still did a ton of replays, that isn't one of the Zuffa perks. Also I don't think Reem was working on defense because he didn't think Werdum had anything that would hurt him. I think if he fought someone with some power or better standup he would show a better defense. Overall I don't think Reem respected Werdum.

Reem has always had poor defense though, even if he wasn't fearing the power Werdum had him backing up and covering up at times. Better work on that for Foot. Bobbit had a good point after the event that Reem is used to K-1 defense which doesn't translate possibly with the smaller glve size, something like that at least....

Yeah those are good points. I think Bigfoot is going to be a handful for Reem. I will be picking Bigfoot in that fight. But that seems to be the hot trend right now, I guess I'm buying it.

Completely reasonable pick, I'll decide as it approaches, want to see them face to face.
