| Based on who would win against who at their peak not based on who had the better career. |

| What's the harm in me asking? I'm just trying to become more educated in the history of boxing. |

| Let me try it this way. If you took the toip say 20 heavies and put them in a gigantic round robin with 15 round fights and each guy fought his absolute best every time who would have the best records when it was done?
Ali, Foreman, Louis, Holmes and Marciano.
Now if you did that same thing but they fought fights to a finish? I think it changes quite a bit.
Louis, Foreman, Jeffries, Marciano and Johnson.

Marciano survives the early onslaught to wear down and stop a deflated Tyson. |

The question is can Marciano survive the first three rounds? If he can he puts Tyson in the hospital. But for three rounds Tyson has a chance against anybody.

| Jack Johnson always ends up on these lists but how would he really stack up against today's HW monsters the Klit bros and the other legends on this list? | |

Tyson gets really really frustrated because he keeps hitting a mauling Marciano and he bites his ear. TWICE. Correct me if I am wrong but if Evander can frustrate the hell out of Tyson why cant Marciano? |

No harm its just like when I appear on the MMA forum and begin to ask questions that you guys have answerd a bunch of times. Some guys dont like to discuss it over and over and some guys like me do. |

| Tyson would get boxed out of the ring by Marciano. That wouldn't even be a competitive fight. | |

I agree. You are talking about a guy who never beat anyone vs the best chin in the history of boxing who also had one of the hardest punches in boxing history. Doesnt seem like the best matchup for Tyson. |

| Show me a Tyson fight he came back to win? Anyone? If he couldn't steamroll you he'd fold. BJ Penn, Vitor Belfort, Mike Tyson - FRONT RUNNERS. Except the two mma guys actually have legit wins. | |

LOL yeah BJ is a head case. BTW Wolf why is it that BJ only has a record of 15-7-1 and he is considered the greatest ever in his weight class? That is a serious question BTW. |

| 1. Because there have been four LW UFC champions ever, and one Pride LW champion, in a sport that isn't 20 years old in a division that has had roughly 10-15 total title fights in much less than ten years of real activity.
2. MMA is unlike that other combat sport in that the best don't spend ten years carefully padding their records against club fighters before nitpicking opponents.
3. Because there is so many more ways to lose, losses don't hold the same water in MMA that they do in that "other sport", thankfully. The best fight the best and therefore lose much more often. In that other sport, you lose because either you got punched more, or harder, than your opponent, in MMA the ways you can lose are too numerous to list.

OK, I do think they should have more than a total of 23 fights though right? I mean come on this sport has been going on long enough for that. BTW how many fights does Anderson have? How often do UFC guys fight? It just seems odd to me being a boxing guy. Also in boxing the guys work their way up to that elite level that why they do have all those fights. They prove themselves first. I dont see that happening too much in UFC yet. I do think eventually if this sport gets as big as boxing it will happen though dont you? |
