2-5 in his last 7 mma fights. Aside from Kita and Williams, the comp has been good in this run, a tier up from most, but not all, of the comp he fought during his last 7 fight run where he was undefeated. But why the hate?

| When people were saying that he was on a fat win streak and looked to be in good shape. If he's out of shape again and losing then it's a different situation. | |

| I remember when he did deserve another crack. but once it became clear he wasn't going to get a crack he stopped training and kept fighting every two weeks. He's just collecting checks now.
Had he been signed by SF or the UFC he'd be in way better shape, in a different camp, fighting once ever 4 months instead of seven times in four months.
I think that is the point bobberz is missin here. ILY otherwise bobby

| I'm not missing it, only started the thread because Ricco looked like poo yesterday and such a short time ago we were clamoring for him back in ZUFFA. Once there were nothing but serious comments and hater accusations, this thread served no other purpose but being trollicious | |

| No. He deserved it then. He doesn't now. See the previous posts farmer. Had he been signed by SF or the UFC, it stands to reason he would not be fighting every month. Look at the brutal pace of his career. In the last 8 months he has 7 fights. And the shape he is in now is significantly worse than what it was during his run of wins.
Once he lost that fight to Silverback in Bellator, it pretty much ruined any chance he'd have at getting back into Zuffa, so he has thrown in the towel and is just collecting checks. Dana said he was considering it before that bout, but the deal never materialized, and once he lost in Bellator his value was ruined. I think burn out, both mental and physical along with dejection is what is to blame here.
This is not a reflection of his fundamental inability to compete. I think had he been signed in the UFC we'd be seeing a different Ricco. It sucks to see how this went down.

| I was kidding when i said Ricco would beat Overeem As i said...Ricco was coming in better shape each fight for about a year and was making his way to 205..and at the pace he was at, he would have. Now granted, the competition wasnt great but at that point Ricco was not far removed of having fought tough guys like Bigfoot, Rothwell, Monson, Wiuff very close despite being an obese slob which most thought was the main reason he was not in the big shows anymore. It seems he's fallen off the wagon with his shape, he's been arrested, and now he's getting knocked out..and these werent things that ever happened to Rodriguez untill the last year or two. The way we all saw it. The guy was motivated, getting in better shape every fight, winning on the smaller shows(which is what a fighter has to do, right?), and the guy has ability. It didnt happen. That ship has sailed, and now he's showing up for the paycheck but considering what was going on at the time with Ricco, i don't feel i was way off thinking a guy on an 11 fight win streak, was a former UFC champion, beat and almost beat some of the best HW around, seemed to be taking his training seriously again, and was only 32 should get a shot to fight in the UFC again. | |

And when did it ever become clear he wasn't ever going to get a shot, and should thus stop training seriously? He had a good string of wins, and he was never that bad either, remember his robbery against bigfoot? Anyway, around the time he headkicked Fulton he was looking awesome. Do not give me a stupid rationale claiming that win sandwiched between a zillion isn't good enough for a former UFC champ to earn his way back into the show with the HW division as shallow as it is. Guys with very few fights and no name wins get into the UFC all the time. Anyway some reading http://www.cagepotato.com/exclusive-ricco-rodriguez-explains-why-the-ufc-wont-have-him-back/Before this there was some talk from Dana if he won he'd get to come back, but that never materialized as this article shows.

Once the UFC told him to fuck off, and his story changed from 'Ill be back someday I promise!" to "they never will let me back and I know why:(" he started losing every fight. Coincidence?
