Feel bad for Scott. He put in good work to build up SF from nothing to what it was, now he has to watch and explain why it's being dismantled the way it is. Hope after he is fired someone with some real gonads financially backs his next project, if he isn't totally disenchanted with the sport completely.

Yeah I think Scott is just hanging around collecting that check until Zuffa decides they no longer require his services. I hope he uses that as motivation to rebuild another brand and help fill the hole that will be left by SF.

well with moves like this, u have to wonder how excited non-zuffa fighters would be to come work for Scott in the future, Im doubting the GG guys would be gung ho to join forces again with Scotty.

Watching the Reem,(episode 4 maybe) Coker calls Alistair his "prodigal son". Is this how u treat family?

If he hangs long with Zuffa he might burn alot of bridges, so if he does stay, he better be sure Zuffa has him in their long term plans.

Yeah, he could quit. Unless he is making some underhanded plans and moves at the moment. The hand up his ass is doing a dis-service to any potential work he might do in the future away from Zuffa.

I think non-Zuffa fighters would work with Coker again in a heart beat. That includes everyone at GG. Before the Zuffa buyout he gave Reem alot of slack to compete when and where he wanted to. I think Connen would work with Coker again in a heart beat given how much he has pushed women's MMA over the years. Especially after Zuffa is done using him up, they know Coker understands the game.

I gotta imagine that a condition of Scott being employed by Zuffa after the buyout involved some kind of devil contract though. Might all be fluff to talk about this.

You think Coker signed something saying he wouldn't promote MMA if he parted with Zuffa? If he did he must have been buying the Zuffa sweet talk of "business as usual" or he figured "I gave it my best shot". I'm hoping that isn't the case, that would be very disappointing.

I'm sure he has a no compete clause in his contract for at least a year or two.

Coker comes on at about 26-27 min mark.

Coker says the cards are all full until the end of the year and it's "only fair to let them go and continue their future elsewhere".
Coker also admits that they tried to come to a new deal with Reem and "couldn't do it" and it was time to "just move on then". I guess Reem's contract expired before the end of the GP.

He had 1 fight left on his contract.

he did have one fight left but they also have a time limit for contracts, so if you dont complete it by set time the contract is over with

By them releasing him it actually is better off for Overeem if they couldn't come to terms on a new contract. I am saying that because Strikeforce could have had him sit for a year after his last fight was completed due to the champions clause they have.

Coker is getting a great view of how to run this business. This bullshitting with fighters and crappy match-ups hurt his product, plus he was not in the financial position of the UFC. He is getting to see what changes he needs to make to his mindset and how to make it work with his management style. So even if he leaves, which I would tell the UFC not to do, when he does start up a new company, he will be more successful than he was before.

I will say the match-ups have improved over the last few months, but that isn't Coker's doing...

Yeah, entertainment for the sake of matchups with dudes who aren't even close at skill level right now. I mean the SF card before Zuffa took over that got more praise than any other was hugely because of Paul Daley-Scott Smith and Robbie Lawler-Matt Lindland. Come on. Not to mention how short notice so many of the fights were

I would disagree, I think the matchups pre-Zuffa were overall more entertaining. I think the majority of fans would agree.
