I kinda understand your point but on paper I think most thought these would be pretty good matchups.

i agree they were good matchups on paper, that adds to the sense of anti climax though.

i'll give forrest the benefit of the doubt as he's been in enough bloodbaths before that i wouldn't question his fortitude even if it did look like little more than a glancing blow.

okami was dropped by a jab and then by a right hand that looked more like a closed fisted push than a full blooded punch. unacceptable for a PPV at the end of the day.

Watching Anderson Silva do some Spiderman type shit is always worth it. What a card. I loved every second of it.

I kind of get the new guys point...like Strikeforce:Hendo vs. Babalu was like that...but you didnt really expect Rua-Griffin and Nog-Schaub to end by spectacular knockout in such little time. So for me it changes a lot.

Stuff like Paul Daley vs. Scott Smith is a lamb led to slaughter. What happened last night were big time KO's for two guys who needed big time KO's.

Swing fight for championship night, though they didn't really need to do it that way the main event was over less than 2 hours into the show.

I'm seeing today on a couple of other multi sport boards that certain fans need a back pocket reason for discredit, usually after a card like last nights it's something along the lines of "a bunch of pro vs joe's fights' and 'these dudes looked good because these fighters are terrible' etc.,.

Where was Dana last night after Anderson won. He is usually in there for a championship fight unless I missed him. Dana did say, "I was never considering (Silva) for FOX, he will not". He did make it sound like GSP vs Silva was very possible in the near future.

Shogun's UFC resume, every fight against a current, future or previous UFC Champion, with three vengeance wins, only Bones left to avenge.. That will be tough to do though.

Dana handed Anderson the belt after the fight.

As for Spider-GSP..i think Dana saying it's possible in the near future means he'll be trying to make it in the near future but he's probably been trying to make this fight for about 2 years now. GSP does not seem interested in 185..and when he does become interested. I think he'll ask to get acclimated to the weight class first. He might want to get one fight in at 185 against a contender and get a couple training camps in at that weight before fighting Spider. From all the GSP interviews on the topic, it seems that if and when he does move up..he won't want the first fight to be against the champ even though it's what the fans and dana want. It might not be the smart thing to do..the guy has always fought at 170 and we have seen guys not be in the same shape or have the same conditioning when they first move to a new weight class.

fair enough, it's a day later and i may have overstated it a bit.

i guess i was expecting to see far more action on the night. i will stand by my comments about okami though, when the PPV is promoted as 'UFC rio - silva v okami', i would expect better from okami.

anderson never had to get out of 1st gear and okami surrendered like a frenchman.

There comes a point when standing in front of Silva when you realize you have less of a chance of hitting him with your fist than you do talking Logan out of her UFC shorts on twitter. A low point in a fighter's life. I cannot punch this man. Only Machida and GSP can break fighters mentally like this. Reduces their effectiveness even more. Makes them stop committing to power strikes. Jones doesn't have this ability yet.

Anderson could probably dodge crossbow fire.

I was disappointed. I expected far more action and I am not compaining, because other than time, it cost me nothing. I was happy for Nog though. And people, there is nothing wrong with people having differing opinions. And that Newbie is right, Okami surrendered like a Frenchman, what a disappointing showing...

I'll stick by this. If you UFC 134 leaves you disappointed and unsatisfied, this sport might just be a waste of your very important time. Or maybe the Brazilian clean sweep in the three main fights has people hurting on the inside?
