If it were a number 1 contender match then they call it a number one contender match, and they wouldn't have awarded him a title which he displays on his mantle, and they wouldn't promote former Interm champions as former champions ala Nogueira "the only man to be Pride and UFC HW champion"

What ranks and titles have you held? Interim UFC heavyweight champion, 2x NCAA Div II Wrestling National Runner-up HWT (1996,1997). NCAA II Wrestling National Champion HWT (1999). 2x NCAA II All-American in Football. Ring of Fire HWT Champion.
I suppose it is your opinion to not recognize interm titles as titles, just like it is my opinion to think that is fucking retarded.

Wolf, I can't believe u asked that question... Interim tittles are made for the promotion to make money by promoting a title shot on a card, simple as that

This. It's like the WBC having a champion and a super champion. Even Carwin admitted his title wasn't the real title.

An excuse for a 5 rounder and to hype it more, but we all know this. Don't play dumb to try to make your argument.

I agree somewhat with the points you guys are making, but there have been multiple times where the interm titlist was promoted to champion due to injury. Also, the UFC does not do interm titles every time they can or sometimes even should, only when it is unclear if the champion will ever fight again or if he will be able to defend the title any time soon.
"So if the champion can't fight, who is the champion now?"
Interm titles are something I support and I wish other fans did to. I mean, Lesnar was gifted a title opportunity and never deserved it, nor was he even the best fighter. It's not like the UFC belt has this long and rich lineal history. The interm titles are worth about as much as the real UFC belt imo.
I also wish Carwin would have instead said "Motherfucker mine is the real title because I hold it" or something to that effect. Makes no sense promotionally to assassinate the interm title you hold, imo.
Guys, I wish more of you would support interm titles. They do mean something and any time you get any kind of hardware it should count, especially if it says "UFC" on it.

Interim means the real champion is injured or taking time off therefor whoever is the interim champ is not the real champ. Also in the UFC the interim champ has never become the real champ and has fought the real champ for the real title (except for Alrovski because of Mir accident).

So Wolf always makes a big deal about the lineal champ yet now he wants us to back the interim champ?

Well, it makes sense, since the UFC champion isn't the real champion anyway. So anyone they call "champ" is just as much of a champ as the other guy. It's not like the belt Lesnar held was special. The only difference is it didn't say "interm". There is no history or prestige beyond the lack of that word is there?

He beat the guy who beat the guy. Randy was the champ at the time not Big Nog. Nog beat Sylvia who had already lost to Randy.

The belt Sylvia had was an interm title promoted to a real title itself. Randy has lost three separate lineal UFC titles to other fighters so I really, really don't need to hear any noise on man who beat da man arguments. If that applies here to interm titles, then the title Randy lost to Brock should be meaningless anyway and both titles should be equally meaningless. And this is my point. There is no real difference.
Overall, I like interm titles anyway as it adds meaning, intrigue, interest etc to fights and as a fan I dig it.

No, Arlovski's interim title was promoted to the real title after Mir relinquished his title. Sylvia then beat Arlovski.

Only because Mir relinquished his. They weren't going to wait forever for him to get better. Everyone knows the interim title just means number 1 contender until the real champ comes back so don't try to act like it means more. You're not that retarded.

We're not talking about world champion. We are talking about UFC Heavyweight champion and that was Frank Mir.

The UFC HW championship numerous times has been lost, vacated, and reset as the UFC saw fit. Interm titles are not worth anything less in effect without a real tradition. The point is, few men in the world can lay claim to UFC championship honors, and interm or not, that still means something.

Yeah, one pro fight before entering the UFC on the way to becoming champ and disposing of 3 top ten fighters in 5 fights. Definitely most overrated ever

Lesnar for a while there had numerous super powers attributed to him. He has had a success in his career this is true, but that doesn't mean he was not over valued.
