Plus Fitch doesn't have the takedown defense and power double leg like Kos does.

Fitch's stand up is nothing to write home about. He's good at everything and rides your back. Kos throws power and would stuff Hughes's takedowns. Hughes would grind right back at Fitch and match him to make a boring yet relatively even match up. Just how I see it.

I don't think Forrest or Matt are doing it for paychecks.

I think Matt is in a similar position to Tito v Badar or Nog v Schaub. The old vet is supposed to be getting put down by the young star, but we'll see if they have similar endings.

I dont remember hughes just showing up for a check before so i say he comes game and ready to give a good effort.

I hope you are right guys, but I would have been happier if he came in, won, then retired...I hate watching them putter away from the sport.

hughes is getting stopped in the first round against either one

lets not forget what happened last time kos fought on a 2 weeks notice, he lost to a guy he shouldnt of beaten, then again hughes a young hungry ww as he once was

soul drainage is a legit concern. long layoff and short notice is a weird combo as well.

true, but Matt Hughes has been training to fight a high level WW for the past several months...Koscheck was unsure if he was even going to continue fighting at WW a week ago.

Hughes was training to fight a much different fighter than Koscheck. He was training for a fighter who likes to grind shit out and never stops coming forward. Koscheck is much more calculated and explosive. Hughes has one option here to win and thats submission. It's more likely he gets put down hard ala Frank Trigg. Hughes has clearly lost a step, and fighting an even higher level opponent than the one he was training for is no good for him.
