| Like I said, I took the time to lay one out and it didn't post. I thought better of redoing it since I'm really not in the mood to trade today. You're the best, bud. | |

Better technique then Cyborg and Carano (watch the kids at the end)...sadly... Hey Jimbo... I see you post these on occasion and have a question as to whether or not there's a point to them? Some kids learn faster than others, Team Shamrock praises all kids the same regardless of ability, you like Team Shamrock's training techniques? Elaborate if you will... My point was in the comment below the link. The wrestling displayed in the Carano vs. Cyborg fight was just plain bad. It was at a lower level then kiddie wrestling. Of course, that is but one aspect of mma, but just something that was glaring to me. Second, as Couture often says, part of mma is finding your opponents weakness and exploiting that. Therefore, my post would seem to support your position that you could beat Cyborg, whether true or not. This was actually the first "Team Shamrock" video I have ever posted, though I do post other wrestling videos. I was speaking of your "various" videos, not just the Shamrock video. And I agree... Aside from the poor wrestling displayed, you have to look at the striking. These women throw very awkward punches that lack snap and power. They aren't much of a threat to any guy that has training and knows how to strike or defend. Without trying to sound like an ass, this whole thread just stinks of ignorance from people that have done nothing in their lives but sit and watch on a flat screen...
One thought that just popped into my head is the concept of a guy with real training landing just a simple straight right to the chin of a woman... Consider a woman's head is normally about 5% smaller and the bone structure is much thinner than a man of the same height and weight. Talk about a jaw that couldn't take a hit... Literally. My various videos? Well, in that case, I post them because mma is comprised of many martial arts. As a wrestler, I am partial to wrestling. So, when I come across a really good wrestling video, I post it for those who may enjoy it. You don't have to watch it if you don't want to. btw, where did you wrestle in college LTFG?

Didn't say I didn't enjoy them, Jimbo. I was just a bit surprised that you post despite the lack of feedback. I didn't wrestle in college though. I attended Willamette University long before many here were even born. Masters in Business and Economics but was always focused on business. I started my first business as a freshman (Why I didn't have time to participate in organized sports in college) running a courier delivery service for medical labs throughout Portland, Salem and Eugene. I started wrestling when I was five, and continued to practice and teach anyone who needed aid in our gym until I broke my neck in March. I still box, wrestle and work on BJJ a few nights a week with my kids at a local club on a lighter level paying special attention to avoid any torque above the shoulders. That has its dangers as well as you can get too cautious of an injury and over leverage other joints while rolling, and last month ruptured my rotators cuff. Reality is a bit difficult to swallow, but my thick head is starting to accept the facts that I'm not 25 any more... What about you Jimbo... Have some success in college?

well this topic sparked a debate on whether grown men with some training can take Cyborg. Both sides refuses to believe the other is right and that is how this long drawn out discussion became so big.

| I understand how it became so big, but I wonder if it's worthy of it. There are tons of topics in which people do not agree, and the posts don't get this long. I mean chick vs keyboard warrior? It was a fun topic for a minute, but this is Ninja's place, not ESPN. | |

| I agree this topic should have died a long time ago. But the people involved in the argument just seem too stubborn to give it up. Nothing new has been discussed in the last five pages lol, just back and forth bickering over a topic we will never get to see get played out. | |

I think when he got back he got the same problem Z had, unable to post for some reason. I saw Ninja say something about it in another thread.

I hate these types of posts because nobody believes anything anyone says, but ill answer it for you LTFG. I was pretty good in college, qualified for ncaa's, won regionals, but never placed at nationals. In high school, i was an all american. My college career was hindered by a bad back injury that didn't fully heal until a year after my college career was over. Since my back healed, I have gotten back into wrestling, competing at various freestyle tournaments and coach at the high school, middle school, and youth levels. I have also worked as a wrestling training partner for a couple ufc fighters in preparation for fights and have been studying bjj for the past 4 years (2 nights a week, but that stops when the high school wrestling season starts and I have to spend more time coaching). I took okinawan kenpo for 12 years but stopped when I went to college because wrestling took up so much of my time (2 a day practices, etc). I have wanted to get back into some kind of striking training, but can't seem to find the time between lifting, wrestling, and bjj, which overall, keeps me busy 5 nights a week lol. Thats me in a nutshell i guess...

I don't have a problem believing people's stories as it's usually pretty easy to spot a fraud. No one in this forum seems to care that they are what they are, but like you I rarely bring this part of my history up as some of the kids just feed off it and take shots, as you eluded to. I never had All-American status in high school... Placed third in state as a freshman at 181 and let my head and girls effect me from there and never finished higher than fifth as a HW as a junior. The rest I laid out. Funny you mention traditional karate as I started in TKD at 9, competed in summer tourney's and did a year of Kenpo at 15 after getting wasted in a tourney's semi-finals by the fastest hands I'd ever seen from a Kenpo guy (Including any boxing guys I had ever come in contact with from the age of 12). Kenpo wasn't for me though as I really like to kick as part of my routine. I'm kind of a jack of trades and master of none if you will as I had spent a fair amount of time practicing wrestling, boxing, TKD and had added BJJ to my learning curve a couple of years ago (My next stop will be Muay Thai if I can find a reputible teacher). My kids have been tought to box, wrestle and kick from yours truly and we attend local complete gym where many guys train (Our local show is the Desert Brawl promotion and most guys that fight train together as we are a pretty small area). I assist in helping with wrestling and boxing when time permits and my kids are getting the best exercise and training that I could hope for. I still don't let them watch fights, but they know who the guys are thanks to the guys at the gym... I just want them to go through life knowing that they are equipped to handle pretty much any situation and would never get their ass kicked by a woman...lol. That and with any luck one or both might show enough promise in wrestling to where I don't have to pay for college.

| Problem, Wolf? They are 10 and just turned 13. What we practice in the gym is a far cry from a PPV event or TUF, wouldn't you agree (Though, they have seen some brief sections of fights on Spike replays for technique examples)? Shockingly enough, I also warn them against cigarettes, pot, other drugs, restrict their TV time, video game playing and require an exercise regimen. You'd really think I was an ogre if you saw my chore list and punishment schedule. But fact is my kids give me about 1/10th of the attitude of any other families we associate with and think school and education is fun and exciting and not a place for socializing... Pretty weird, huh? | |

| The only thing weird is your association of mixed martial arts at this level with tobacco and video games. My stepson at seven does daily chores, watches little TV and plays little video games, gets A's, is in Karate, Judo and basketball, treats me and his mom with respect, eats all his diner, volunteers to do the dishes and helps build hospitals too, just like you and your family, you American Dad you.
I don't think watching sports, be it fighting or the baseball games I take him to endanger that...
Are you guilty that you watch MMA? Is it human cockfighting to you on some level after all?
