i didnt see the fight but this thread tells me a few things.1.some fighters have the heart of a real champion..dawson does not2.outhustled and no going for broke tells me a lot about a fighter..the division sucks but he will be beaton again..3.excuses i wish they ask the fighter his excuses before the fight starts.lol...he has super dumb intellect for hes owned ala prima canera right now...get real people in your camp or your on your way down.
A bizzarre fight. Dawson passively pursuing Pascal who 3-4 times a round would dash in and throw combinations and get back out. In response Chad would move straight back and not counter. Then Dawson would close and not throw, close and not throw and close and not throw some more. In a couple of rounds when he let his hands go he hurt Pascal, or at least seemed to. And then he just stood there and let Pascal recoup. Finally in the 11th he came ROARING out, pinned Pascal in a corner and wailed away with an 10-12 punch barrage that had Pascal wilting...then Chad let him out and did nothing for the next minute, then he stops Pascal dead still with a counter right hook and steps away. Just weird.
Ya think it was fixed, Marble?

Nah, I think Chad's got a mediocre ring IQ. And I watched again and I was wrong, that last shot was a left hand.

Would you say he's just one dimensional like most guys' today?
Its like he tried to adapt, but just wasnt in him, couldnt execute being the aggressor

I actually don't think being one-dimensional is a problem if you are good enough at that one dimension. 99% of all fighters, even great ones, are one dimensional. I'm beginning to think Chad literally doesn't understand what is happening in the ring, he can't gauge the flow of a fight, he doesn't recognize when the other guy is hurt. I mean he showed some offensive skill early in the eleventh and then it was like he didn't comprehend that it was probably working and he should keep doing it.
Course I'm just guessing like the rest of us.

Dawson doesn't counterpunch. He always covers up and stands there. This was the first time he couldn't block most shots and see the punches coming. He had a guy exploding at him (not that Pascal is that explosive but in comparison to the guys below he sure as hell is).
I'm a huge fan of Adamek but I have to believe he was severely hampered by trying to shrink down to 175. And even if he wasn't, Dawson has too much natural speed for Adamek. Tarver-past it when he faced Dawson. Dawson could cover up and Tarver's slow punches could be blocked or taken Johnson- a tough as nails guy but he isn't an explosive puncher. He tries to wear you down by taking your shots/blocking and then staying in your grill.
Pascal had better speed than his previous opponents and he came after Dawson in short explosive bursts. Dawson should have countered, but he did what he always does when someone attacks, he covered up!!!!!
