| What a surprise. I always despised that punk. His speech is now very poor and apparently he wasn't able to hold on to his money. From fightnews:
"The former business manager of Fernando Vargas has been arrested on suspicion of stealing the former world champion’s fortune. According to the Ventura County Star, Joseph Louis Pecora was arrested Monday on charges of grand theft by embezzlement and forgery after a long investigation. Vargas’ attorney Greg Ramirez told the Star that Pecora allegedly pocketed about $400,000 and lost millions by mismanaging Vargas’ financial affairs. Ramirez also said the Vargas family had to move out of their home as a result and Vargas might have to start training to get back in the ring.."

| Very familiar story. Fernando was a good fighter who may have self destructed because of his insane envy of, Oscar De La Hoya. | |

| I believe his career was mismanaged. It made no sense whatsoever to put him in with Tito that early in his career. Not that Vargas was ever going to be great, but he was never the same after Tito handed him that beating. | |

Good point, Captain. He should've boxed more but I felt the same way. It was too early for a fighter that dangerous.

i respect Vargas for that, they took a risk and lost, but Vargas will live in boxing history forever cause of that

| i do agree with you bird. i think that he moved up quickly and did well. he is just like a lot of fighters though. when you lose once, you arent the same fighter anymore. vargas was a good fighter though. | |

| that fight can be blamed more on the ref nearly letting vargas die in the 12th than Fernando or his management IMO | |

| Couldn't have happened to a more deserving person. I'm sure that guy he beatdown with the golf club is having a laugh. Maybe GBP can get him a few fights. | |

| A few fights? At what weight? Last I saw of him, he, Ricky Hatton, and Hamed, were in the running for fattest ex-fighter. | |

| Wasn't he promoting MMA/boxing? I'm sure some MMA promoter would love to put him on in a freak show fight.
He sounds awful in interviews, struggling to put together words big time. I can't imagine any jursidiction in the U.S can justify giving him a licensce, he'll probably get KTFO by some bum in Mexico. I suppose a sumo match with Ricky or Naz is possible too.

| Ya Fernando sounds pretty bad when he speaks. Holy has talked like that for the last 10 years and he still gets fights so I would not be surprised if a state gives Vargas the okay to continue fighting! | |
