I miss Tito.

The 1st fight i watched on PPV round for round. I was in 8th grade and lost 20 bucks on this fight.

this fight single handidly turned all of my friends into bona fide boxing fans

they all realized what I had been talking about

If i remember right Mayweather destroyed Chico a little before this fight

I said before the fight I thought Vargas' handlers were acting irresponsibly. Not merely badly, irresponsibly.

There was NO WAY Anyone with 20 fights could be ready for a tornado like Tito. There was NO NEED for Vargas to take this fight at this point.

They risked his career and lost.

Did those two show enough heart that night? Man oh Man what a fight.

There needs to be a wise person in every promotional/management team. Someone who can look at things with a detached analytical viewpoint. Someone who can say whoa, are you crazy, this guy is an absolute monster. Our guy needs more seasoning.

Most teams protect their fighters to their detriment; his team gave new meaning to the term baptism by fire. There was fire, coming from Tito's fists, and busting Vargas's ass up.

Vargas' career was like that fake Azteca blockade he punched his way through, man hows that for symbolism, Vargas did it to himself

he was so damn close, just think if he had fought 5 more good fights then went for Trinidad

well his whole career was about besting De La Hoya and that may have been his biggest problem

At the time I was thinking 18 months or 5-6 fights. Vargas had a chance to be really special and his team and Tito just ruined him.

If this was a lawyer (promoter)/client (Vargas) situation, then his promoter would have been sued for legal malpractice.

I would have thought it was obvious that Vargas' head at that point was too much balls and not yet enough brains. THAT was what he needed to learn. Not just how to beat top figthers, but to do so without going to war every time. He had the physical tools to fight smartly. He needed to mature a little and realize boxing is about winning not always about destroying.

Vargas was very good at a very young age. He fought very wll against a HOFer, but Tito controlled the fight with dirty tactics. All the low blows Tito threw were to stop Vargases momentum. It was a smart move, but very dirty. Then again Tito is Puerto Rican. I still think Tito illegally tampered with his handwraps. Extra tape and that glue they put on were just to give Tito an advantage.

Alot of these boxers arent exactly Einstein.

agree slick and Margo aint to bright with that hair cut but Resto atleast kept his gloves on if we are to believe his claim of using plaster also
