| Kampann would do to Hardy what he just did to Paulo, control him on the ground for 3 rounds. The only way I could see Hardy winning this fight is if by some miracle, his takedown defense improves by a vast amount by UFC 120. That being said, I am prepared to watch Hardy lose again. | |

| Can't get revenge on Daley so Hardy is the best he can do. | |

| Didn't Hardy say he was working on his ground game whilst he's got time off? |

Yeah, but if he is training with the brits on his wrestling, then that does him no good whatsoever lol

| He's going to have a hell of a long layoff to work on it. He's quick as hell and is a quick learner from reports. And Kampmann is no GSP. I have no clue who he's working with, but I don't think that this fight is all that predictable if it happens. | |

| I would never be quoted as saying Kampmann is GSP.
Kampmann is no slouch on the ground though. If you can control Paulo Thiago on the ground for a full 3 rounds almost, I have no doubt that you would be able to control a much lesser of a grappler in Hardy on the ground.

| Hmmm, well if he is training in america on his wrestling, then he has a good shot at improving by a pretty good amount. | |

| Wasn't it Koscheck trash talking Hardy first about the title shot though? He said some shit like two months before Hardy and GSP fought and apologised about a week or so before the fight. | |

| His ground game is better than I realized, but Thiago has never shown a great ground game in the UFC in terms of wrestling ability. His striking defense is laughably bad though. | |

| I am pretty sure Hardy is training with Randy, Gray Maynard, and company. I thought I saw him with Danzig after his fight at 115.
Hardy should win this fight right now. After training with them he should school Kampmann.

Que ? It's ridiculous that I mentioned Hardy vs Condit and got scoffed at, and yet Kampmann (somebody Condit clearly beat) wants Hardy and nothing.

why are you (or anybody) so high on Paulo Thiago? He got lucky against Kos, who was killing him before he got caught + the fight was stopped too early. Than lost to Fitch. Than won a decision against someone who Kampmann choked out in the very first round. And I don't even know what to say about Mike Swick. He was and probably will still be overrated.

| Don't get me wrong, I have been a Thiago doubter most of his career in the UFC. I felt he justified his ranking with the Swick win. Now I don't know. I knew the Fitch fight proved he lacked the wrestling and physicality to impose his kind of ground fight, but this makes it look even worse. Kampmann has never looked to be the kind of fighter who would be able to dominate on a broader scale with either of his skill sets. I think he has very overrated striking abilities in relation to other welterweights and while he was able to dominate Thiago, I really can't see him working that strategy on Fitch, Koscheck, Alves or GSP.
Kampmann would be crushed trying to box with Dan Hardy. This is where the fight is a big mismatch. Kampmann's head movement is garbage and he won't have an answer for the hand speed of Dan Hardy. Is his wrestling and top control good enough to keep Hardy out of his element? I really doubt it. I don't think Kampmann is going to be able to GSP/Fitch enough guys to be a serious threat.
Honestly this fight is a shocking turn of events that just helps deflate the division.

| I disagree wolf, i think Kampmann is better than friggin Dan Hardy anywhere you have it....and i'm by no means high on Martin Kampmann, i still don't understand the misconception that Dan Hardy is some top fighter....Kampmann has mopped the floor with far better competition, like Paulo Thiago for instance. | |

| Hardy's hand speed, and his defensive countering ability is a very bad match for Kampmann who has a very easy to find chin. Wide guard, erect, no head movement. Look no further than the Daley and Marquardt fights for what Hardy would do to Kampmann. | |

| Hardy would kill Kampmann standing. His sense of timing and counter punching power/accuracy make for pretty much the second or third worst striking matchup for Kampmann in the entire division. Paulo Thiago's prowess in striking was only in the fact that he packed a super powerful punch. Hardy is the more technical striker than Kampmann(who's whole striking game is predicated on the jab). Hardy would eat him up with head movement and counters. Kampmanns only area of significant superiority over Hardy is his wrestling ability and submissions. | |
