If I remember right .. jake rocked him twice in the first round hard .. so you might be able to argue a 10-8 first round.. but that gives a draw at best.. Condit recovered which was crazy, he should have went out in his first round.. and Jake gassed, he took that fight in like a 1-2 week notice.. that fight was the shit and it also made me a fan of Ellenberger for sure..

Condit beat Kampmann too.

Very Happy

This post makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside!

I dunno if you are disagreeing or agreeing with me but still:

there is others that agree with me.. Kampmann "might" have won the second round (by control) but condit did way more damage on the bottom.. Kampmann was just holding on and eating shots and had no good GnP, and Carlos had like 3 sub attempts off his back too.. He was doing way more work to try and actually finish the fight plus doing more damage.. And i would have given the first and third round to condit anyway..

*All of these condit fights are going by memory.. I havnt seen them since they were live. Which the Kampmann one we were still over at ESPN Shocked

I'm agreeing with you. I think most people thought Ellenberger did enough to win that fight and pull the upset so I'm glad to see someone in Condit's corner.

Condit isn't overrated. He has a unique skillset with his length and unorthodox striking. He also is very slick on the ground, again uses his length very well. Did anyone actually think he was going to come to the UFC and immediately take the belt from GSP? I didn't. I thought he'd come over and continue to put on great fights and win. He's done that as far as I'm concerned.

Carlos Condit and Jake Sheilds were being debated as the best 170'rs outside of the UFC. Shields is a contender, Condit is a borderline top ten, if he is at all.

Why wouldnt he be considered "one of" the best outside of the UFC? Look at our rankings right now, there is only 2 (3 if you count Daley) not in the UFC that is ranked or even honorable mention.. Saying he was the best would be wrong, saying that he was one of the best, I dont see how that is far off.

Personally, I still think he can be a contendor in the WW division. He's had a couple tough fights, should've won against Kampmann and I think everyone was surprised at how game Ellenberger was. He has some work to do but he can work his way back to the top. He's going to have to take less damage in order to win decisions consistently, though. But he's a finisher, so hopefully there won't be many more decisions in his immediate future.

Condit/Ellenberger was not a bad decision. Sure, if it was in Japan, Ellenberger's beatdown in the first round would have won him the fight but in the this system, Condit won the last 2 round pretty easily IMO
