I've been thinking about it, and i've decided that Shane Carwin is gonna ko Brock Lesnar. There is just too much going against him. The health scare, the really long layoff for a guy who doesn't have much experience to begin with, the fact that he's facing a guy who will be just as strong as him, and he's facing a guy who is a ko machine. Brock has never faced someone with this type of power, and that is not debatable. Plus Brock's bread and butter is his wrestling, not exactly an area of weakness for Carwin either. At some point in this fight Brock is gonna have to trade hands with Carwin, and that is just not a very good thing.

The same could be said the other way around, Carwin has never faced someone with Brock's power, no one on Brock's level as a wrestler, and no one even close to as big as Brock.
This will truly be The Hulk vs. The Juggernaut
No matter who loses both guy are still legit top 5 HWs IMO

Neither has ever beaten a legit top five HW so it's hard to say that. Frank Mir is the only true opponent either has face and I wouldn't be shocked if he lost three in a row, would you?

I knew what you'd post Wolf, but I have a hard time seeing many guys beating these two
Fedor, Cain, Dos Santos, Reem, and Barnett from a couple years ago, that's it and not sure I really believe some of those guys could.

I do believe it is probably as close to 50-50 as it gets. All signs point me to take Carwin but there is no way I can. Brock will win this fight by great wrestling takedowns and crazy GNP in my opion.

How do we know what kind of cardio Carwin has? We assume both guys have good chins but neither has really fought any kind of striker. Too many questions. Not enough answers. I think there are numerous fighters who could possibly beat them.

Dos Santos and Cain are no chance against Brock. The only 2 that are, are Shane and Fedor.

well it happened
a guy that i always beat on bets was talking out of his ass about how Brock Lesnar is the face of MMA and is going to destroy Carwin
I am taking Carwin (I also took Rampage over Liddell and Rua over Machida vs this guy, so i know how to shut his shit talkin down)
but ive convinced myself, Lesnar is the one with ring rust. Lesnar is the one that had a hard time with Frank Mirs stand up, Lesnars the one that went rounds with Frank Mir
Shane Carwin new champ

I don't think Brock had a hard time with Frank's standup, he landed a all or nothing knee. The first fight Brock dropped Mir standing. He also went a rd and change, only because he was being cautious and taking his time.

Don't worry if you're not a Brock guy this is about as tough a fight to pick I seen and easily could go either way.

Brock needs to win this fight. Rampage and Lesnar going down in a span of a month would crush my MMA spirit

Wolf, what legit HW haven't they fought? You argue for whoever is fighting Fedor like they are legit but Mir isn't legit? 2 time UFC HW Champion Randy Couture isn't legit? Heath Herring isn't either I suppose? Neither is GG? I guess Werdum and Brett Rogers are the exception to the rule?

Sorry dude Randy is no longer legit. We all love him but he made Big Nog look like Muhammad Ali. I think its funny how you think Timmy, AA, Grim and Wedum arn't legit but GG, Herring(now), and Randy(now) are. Blows my mind. I agree that Mir is legit, but there are serious questions with him.

When Brock beat Randy, yes he had been off for a while and was 45, but he was still the champ. GG and Herring now may not be as legit as they were, but they were at that time. Werdum got KO'd by an at the time up and comer in JDS, Brett Rogers beat up a guy who can't win a fight anymore and do we really want to throw Timmy back into a legit spotlight? Really? If Timmy resigned with the UFC and they put him up against Randy's old ass, I will take Randy and I will be right, so back off partner.

Brock's victory over Randy has no more value than Fedor's wins over AA and Timmy. Probably less.
JDS beat up Werdum yes but he also beat up GG so whats your point? Werdum TKO'd GG as well so why is GG a quality win for Carwin but you say Werdum is a tomato can?
As far as Timmy never being legit, are you willing to say Timmy sucked at the time Randy fought him? And if you do, and I don't see any reason why you wouldn't given your postion, then Randy hasn't had a quality win since Vitor in 2004.
This is a double standard Drew. Of course beating Timmy was a legit win for Randy. Timmy looked great against Nog in a title fight until Nog did what he always does. His very next fight was against Fedor in Affliction, and now out of nowhere he's a can?
If Timmy has always sucked, then the UFC HW division sucked until about a year ago.

This is a tough one to pick but I'll go with Brock. His skillset doesn't really suffer from ring rust. It's not like he's ever been a crisp striker. All the fucker does is take people down and gNp them into oblivion. Ring rust won't be a factor IMO.
Carwin is huge and could land a KO punch, however, he's the more plodding HW in this fight. Brock is faster and more agile than Carwin and I think that will ultimately be the difference in the fight.
If Carwin can stuff a takedown and be pressed against the cage like he was against Mir, I think he can dirty box there and hurt Brock. If Brock is smart, which is debatable, he will bail on failed takedown attempts quickly instead of staying against the cage in a clinch situation.
Brock by ref stoppage, round 2.
