Gegard Mousasi vs. “King Mo” Lawal targeted for May

Think Gegard takes this one, I doubt King Mo is ready for him at this point in his career.

Mo is a lot less experienced, but he offers something in the way of a match up issue for Mousasi.

Will be a good show. Like this match up. First real opponent for Mo and a possible tough battle for Mousasi.

Love the match up. Mousasi excels though.

It isn't a "hype" train when the guy comes from such a high level pedigree as does Mo Lawal. He is a real threat who i think will beat Mousasi.

Depends on how he loses... If he makes a good show and is competitive against a top-5 fighter, then no. If Gegard drops him or drags him down and finishes him midway through the first, then it certainly derails the train for the time being. I think Mo has that punchers chance of course, but I think Mousasi doesn't let this get out of the first.

I still think Mo has a great chance of being a top 10 LHW, but he losses this.

Maybe his hype trails off some when Mousasi drops him, but his future is still bright.

I actually think Gegard's hype train is more in danger here. Mo is a big dude, and a top notch wrestler.

If Gegard was to lose this fight, it would almost do more damage to his cred than it would to help Mo's. Mo is a very solid wreslter, but Gegard's Judo, Sambo and freakishly effective JJ is no joke... And his striking is MILES ahead of Mo's. Gegard should be a HUGE favorite in this fight.

We saw Mousasi not do well vs top end judo guy in Soko. There is a definite weakness there. Mo is a top collegiate so its quite different. I don't see Mo being able to exploit Mousasi's weakness. I have a feeling Mo has fallen in love with his hands and will get destroyed by Mousasi's quick hands. Mousasi is very good at ending fights. Once Mo is caught its game over.

Have you seen his fights? He stands and knocks people out as much or more than he does using his wrestling. Whitehead, Naito, & Wiuff (technically he took him down after he was basically out on his feet) were all standing.

Mo isn't the striker Mousasi is, but he should be able to put Mousasi on his back at will. This is a match up test for Mousasi.

Not to mention Gegard just moved up to 205, and the 2 guys he fought at that weight were of the smaller variety.

While not American Babalu is a solid wrestler. Uscola (who? ) was a state champ and a collegiate All American wrestler.

Ya, but Babalu was blitzed so fast that it's hard to use that as a real example of how he'd do against guys who can put him on his back.

I think its a great match up but a lot of people feel like they should wait and build them both up some more.

Mo has used his hands a lot but he strikes me as a guy who has done his homework in MMA. I fully see him coming out looking to use his wrestling in this fight
