Forrest got Rampage down and held him there, it can be done. Just because Thiago is slick at BJJ ground escapes doesn't mean Rashad can't score in that aspect of the fight himself.
I still think Rampage is the better, stronger wrestling, but this instant chorus of "rashad has nothing for rampage, not even wrestling" is super short sighted and downright silly my friends. While some opinions may change. I always had Rampage over Rashad.

| Rashad looked good and proved he was the better fighter of the two. Not that I was surprised. Gotta ride with farmer on this one. | |

| And the faster striker and had the better gas tank. He also won the fight, which typically means you were the [i]better fighter that night[i].
So, he was the faster, better striker with better wrestling and better cardio and he used all that to win the fight. Hmm sounds like he was the better fighter to me. But most people who analyze this stuff already knew all this. This fight was no surprise at all, and if it was, rewatch Thiago's older fights. He is good sure, but isn't Rashad's level.
He has improved though, I will admit. I respect him more than I used to.

| I used to think Rampage would kill Rashad then after Jardine and Forest gave Rampage all he could handle while Rashad was on a roll I started thinking Rashad would beat Page but now since his last 2 fights Rashad hasnt looked as impressive and I think Im changing my pick back to Rampage. lol | |

Read Kings post first off, but What I expected to happen, was what did happen in the 3rd of the fight, but Thiago basically backed off, letting Shad off the hook. Obviously SShad is the quicker fighter, but he barely even touched Thiago, and took him down, but did no damage and let Thiago up everytiem.. I atually think if they rematch in a year, barring Thiago works on his wresting a bit, he'll him the rematch, he's also still young, 27.

| I'm willing to bet Evans didn't keep Silva down and GnP because that was the gameplan. The plan was to move, flurry on the feet and take him down. Why would Evans want to stay on the ground with Silva? He got the takedowns then was putting his weight on Silva to drain him when he was getting up. It worked, if he wasn't so damn tired he would have finished Evans in the 3rd. | |

| yea i was impressed how Rashad was able to use his quick hands and speed to set up those big takedowns, although LA has a point he didn't do much once he got Thiago there. But Rashad definitley earned the win and despite the scare at the end looked good. He still has wholes in his game though that he needs to fix, he is far from perfect.
As far as a match with Page, he will have a speed advantage but if Page is really motivated and in shape, he should put Rashad away. He just has to land that one shot.

| Shad was a bore, and I think this is one of those fights that make one question MMA scoring. How much should a takedown followed up by no damage on the ground score? I say minimally.
If Shad won the first 2 rounds 10-9, which is fine, then the 3rd should be 10-8 thiago. Was it a 10-8 round compared to other fights? No, Was it a 10-8 round in this fight? I think it could be scored that way.
Even in the win Shad's rep took a hit. Is he really the 3rd best fighter at 205?

If Silva could have pressed at all in the last minute and landed anything it may have been scored that way. His mistake imo was by backing off and not going after him. I know he was tired but even his corner told him he was behind and had to stop him. Do you normally compare a round in a fight to other fights before deciding if it's a 10-8? Or do you just consider what's in front of you at the time?

I've always been of the opinion that 10-8's (and even 10-7's) should be handed out much more liberally. as should 10-10's. I do not like that a tight round will be scored 10-9 and a fairly onesided, though not dominant round will also be scored 10-9.

| That's the scoring system that needs changing to give you what you want in deciding 10-8's and 10-7's. Honestly there really isn't much of a chance of a 10-7 round happening. For 10-7 to happen it really needs to be big time domination and if that's happening the fight is usually stopped before it gets to the cards. | |

IMO you can score the Sanchez Guida fight 10-8 or 10-7 in round 1, 10-9 Guida in round 2, and then 10-10 in round 3. The final scoring would be easily Sanchez 29-26(or 27) instead of close split decision win for Sanchez.

| Different scoring standards in K-1 in regards to knockdowns. The problem is the scoring system itself, criteria. There is no set point deduction in MMA for a knockdown like in K-1 or boxing. | |

| Hard to see because of Yves blocking the view, but it looks like he pushed him down at the end of the clip. No doubt it was because of the punch though. | |
