thiago is a just a strong powerful dude. even with the takedowns, rashad wasnt strong enough to hold him down and take advantage of the positions.

| I am blown away that Rashad was able to take him down like that, Thiago looked liked he towered over Rashad at the weigh ins, I agree the takedowns won the fight, but he was not strong enough to hold him down and ever do anything with em, thought for sure he was going night night again, Thiago looked pissed. | |

| Agreed.
Not at all impressed by Rashad. For one, it was vintage Rashad. As in boring as all hell. Two, the takedowns did not lead to anything. If this was in Japan. I would not be surprised if Thiago got the decision because he was the only one to do the slightest damage in the fight.
Just takedown, silva gets up, takedown, silva gets up, takedown, silva gets up, round break, Silva beats the crap out of Rashad for 5 minutes. That's pretty much what it was.

Thinking about it now this is maybe the worst matchup for Rashad humanly possible. Rashad won't be able to get Rampage down and he sure as hell won't be able to beat Rampage on the feet.

Right bro, Page actually has good wrestling, Hendo struggled with him, and he's just gonna load up IMO, can't wait

| From the look of what power and punches Rashad had tonight, he is going to be hard pressed to keep Rampage off of him, Rashad is not strong enough to hold down the top notch LHW's he is fighting, get a good game plan, cause hatred will get your ass KO'd | |

| You can tell that Rashad still holds all the hatred for Rampage, he didn't even think about saying the winner of Machida and Rua. | |

| Rashad owned that fight save the one punch. I would say his chin might be somewhat of a question mark, but then again Thiago is a very hard puncher who knocks out anyone he hits. Rashad landed a lot of clean strikes and slammed the shit out of Thiago. I would have liked to see Rashad control him better from the top and land damage but otherwise he fought a great fight as far as I am concerned outside of the scare at the end.
As for Thiago, he proved he has speed issues that will forever haunt him, the lunging blow not withstanding. If you've seen many of Thiago's career fights you'd know he has cardio problems later into fights. He has gassed out and looked shitty against middling competition even in the octagon at times. This is why he didn't push forward once he had him hurt. I also think he was tentative thanks to all the takedowns and Rashad's speed advantage.
As far as a fight with Rampage goes, Rashad still has a lot of speed on him, but Page has the ability to knock him out. Wrestling was never really something that was going to come into play into that fight anyway, but Page would have a huge advantage there based on strength alone. I'll still pick Rashad Evans to win the fight by landing the cleaner, faster shots, especially if he makes it out of the first round. Rampage has never KO'd a top fighter past the first round save the towel in the Liddell fight in 03.

Because he knows those guys would bust his ass. As others said. Rampage is a terrible matchup for Rashad once you look past the shit talk and the whole Rampage is an asshole coach who put fighting on the backburner. Rashad has nothing for him...not even wrestling.

| how quickly opinions are fleeting. the general consensus was rashad would destroy rampage after tuf. MMA fans all have ADD and amnesia.
Forrest got Rampage down and held him there, it can be done. Just because Thiago is slick at BJJ ground escapes doesn't mean Rashad can't score in that aspect of the fight himself.
I still think Rampage is the better, stronger wrestling, but this instant chorus of "rashad has nothing for rampage, not even wrestling" is super short sighted and downright silly my friends.

| How can you not come away impressive with Rashad? He dominated with wrestling, quicker punches, and pressed forward almost the entire fight. The only thing that ticks off about him was that it didn't seem like he was looking to finish.
Thiago on the other hand couldn't get into a rhythm until it was too late. His showboating did seem to throw Rashad off. I'm really shocked Rashad didn't at least attempt to throw while Thiago had his hands down and chin sticking out. Even if its just one quick stiff jab and then get the hell away.
I agree with everyone saying Rashad won't be able to do what he did tonight vs Page.
