"Would we like to see the numbers be trending differently? Yes, of course," Fertitta said. "But we're not concerned and we don't think it's an overall reflection of our business. There are reasons for it. If you think about it, for the first [Fox] fight we had a massive amount of promotion within the NFL on Fox. And we led with our big show, the heavyweight championship, so of course, we were going to draw a much broader range of viewers.
"The fight in January in Chicago actually performed pretty well, even though it was a little below the first one. It was still super solid. This last show, I'd say it was a moderate performance. Really, what we're looking at is, 'How did we rank within the competition compared to what was going on that night?' And in hindsight, going on Cinco de Mayo may not have been the best thing to do."

May and June are bad times to be promoting fights. The UFC needs to slow down in those two months and use July like a Springboard! But I didn't even think of all the activities going on, especially with the fucking Avengers.

Because it took place on the same day, I figure it's relevant here. http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/7919965/floyd-mayweather-miguel-cotto-rakes-94m-ppv-sales Mayweather's junior middleweight title victory against Miguel Cotto on HBO PPV last Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas generated a whopping 1.5 million pay-per-view buys and $94 million in domestic pay-per-view revenue, HBO Sports announced Friday. The performance ranks as the second-highest grossing pay-per-view for a non-heavyweight fight in history.

Saturday’s UFC on FOX 3, which featured a low-profile main-event matchup between Nate Diaz and Jim Miller, garnered just a 1.0 adults 18-49 rating with 2.3 million viewers.
That's from a Sherdog thread.
Just seems like bad timing to me with the NBA, PPV, Cinco De Mayo and of course The Avengers !
I didnt see this..i made a thread on it. I hate that
YEAHHH they were all out watching the avengers. Don't forget we are talking about the 18-49 demo...not the the 13-17 demo...and we'll see how much Cinco De Mayo and NBA hurt the Mayweather buyrate. We'll see how many people were nailed into place and willing to drop 70 bucks right when people are getting really smashed yet nobody was around to watch a free UFC card.
That rating is lower than Jake Shields on CBS and even Smith-Lawler on CBS. Do i get a prize for calling it right? or am i considered wrong because it wasnt a Jake Shields-esque bomb but slightly worse?
Good card though. UFC will have to promote these more heavily because FOX does so very weakly, and they need more star power...but UFC has all that wrapped into PPV. Fox is getting PPV main card fights but not main events for this last one or this next one. I expect the next one to do better but not significantly.
Its been confirmed Mayweather vs Cotto did over 1.5 million buys.
Add in that the worst Elite XC CBS show did bigger numbers than the ufc, Dana is trying topspin this saying they did good in the demo's, gotta call bullshit, this was a huge mistake for them to put a weak card on such a big day.

pretty gay of Dana to attack someone who got layer off because Yahoo let a lot of people go.
I think Dana doesn't get that when you are the face of an organization trying to get mms sanctioned in NY, shit like this doesn't help your cause, it makes you look like a fool. Your ratings are down and Fertitta himself says they were "below what we wanted" but Dana see's this as a chance to attack a former yahoo employee who is calling it like he sees it.
noting fun about being fired, Dana and Mitt should go on tour together with Trump

i like how the background shifted to black as soon as he started ranting. Dana should create an alter ego. Dana Black. The promoter Dana White says "hey watch UFC this weekend" and Dana Black then says "I like dave meltzer but haha you got fired" "Fedor sucks" "You're not a fuckin fighter".
...might help those sagging ratings a bit

laid off, but it might not have been something that could have been prevented by Meltzer like Dana makes it seem. Maybe Yahoo making major cutbacks on a section that they don't care about. Dana makes it sound performance based or something Meltzer did wrong..maybe, i have no idea what went on with Yahoo. It sounds like he was not the only one though going by what bird says.
Meltzer runs a successful newsletter for about 30 years now..i'm sure yahoo was a side gig anyway. He makes his money selling backstage stories to pro wrestling fans.
