The event took place Nov. 13 at the Konig Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen, Germany, and aired via same-day tape delay on Spike TV. I know I was shocked. Must be casual fans following those 3 little letters.

| Bisping and Akiyama aren't as well regarded as Okami and Nate though, and the advertising for this card was really well done. | |

Bisping has the biggest name of the 4 when it comes to casual fans.

| Ya but when it comes to casual Spike watchers, they mostly know who Nate is, and casuals actively dislike Bisping and mostly remember the Hendo KO. Akiyama and Okami have roughly the same value except Akiyama was off a bad loss to Leben and Okami off a great win with improved boxing.
The couple million or so people who tuned into for these shows know who all four of the fighters are. Bisping vs Akiyama realistically could be a preliminary fight on a major card where as Nate and Okami were rightfully advertised as the best two MW contenders in the world. The other card had no such significance.
The stats prove it time and time again, but people tune in for meaningful fights as much as they tune in for "names". You got that hand full of guys, Liddell, Lesnar, Kimbo etc who will sell regardless of if they're champ, not champ, good, formerly good, never was good etc but below that people want to see the best fighters fight.
The public knew there was a reason to watch this bout, and that the winner would be in a title fight. Bisping's already been KO'd and no one gives a fuck about Akiyama.

| Akiyama and Okami = some guy from Japan to the casual fan. I pretty much disagree with every thing you said Wolf. The advertising is what gave this card a boost in ratings if anything. More people would tune in to see Bisping before Okami or Nate. He is alot more known around the world and even here in the States. Hendo KTFO of Bisping on a PPV just like Nate got KTFO by a bjj guy. I don't think that had anything to do with it. | |

Already covered that BBC, but what was the advertising in regards to? Those two being the best MW fighters in the world. Ergo my other point... So you can run and tell that, home boy
