LOL, drastic don't you think? Not at all. That was uncalled for and down right insulting. Two smacks to the mouth for Machida. Tisk tisk.

| Already starts a day after, short notice fights aren't always the best thing, I would play this one a little different | |

Good thing you're not Dana. Cutting the number 2 LHW in the world for asking for more money than normal to take a fight on weeks notice...what a bastard!

While I don't agree with cutting Chida, he did more than ask for more money. He accepted the fight then went back and said I only accept if you give me a raise. That is a bitch move.

| lol at Dana
Machida wanted the fight. Tito turned it down
then
Machida wanted more money...Tito didnt want more money
This is like an asshole mom or dad comparing their sons.
Maybe because Machida has more to lose waddling intp a fight with Evans on less than a months notice without a good training camp....and he'd immediatly be giving you a real main event with two top 5 LHW(something you didnt have beforeand still don't have now with Evans-Ortiz). That demands a raise.
I'm happy Tito got the win, but he still has little to lose fighting Evans on short notice with the built in excuse of having fought a few weeks before and having a cracked skull. Not to mention he's still has one win in the last 5 years.
If Lyoto goes in there unprepared due to a poor training camp and loses...it's a MAJOR blow to his career. MAJOR. Tito, who probably already gets paid better than Machida anyway has excuses in the chamber for when he loses decisively. If he wins..Tito is back and stronger than ever..if he loses, well shit...he's got mileage on him and he fought a few weeks ago and had no time to prepare. I doubt Machida would get the same excuse..especially considering how his first fight with Rashad went.
What clearly happened is Machida was going to step right in and fight Evans on short notice with his regular pay...but thats why fighters have management. To make business decisions based on whats best for the fighters status and scrilla. If Machida is going to bail the UFC out of another sabotaged main event while putting so much on the line on short notice...he best be getting a raise. UFC wanted to pay less..so they got a lesser main event.

Lyoto Machida UFC 129 payout - 200K base Anderson Silva UFC 126 payout - 200K base So what's this coming down to? PPV shares? I'm not so sure And yeah lets pay Tito 450K instead.......

| yeah cuz base pay is a good indicator of what these dudes earn... machida took the fight and THEN asked for more money. if he asked for the money in the first place it wouldn't make him look as bad | |

Um...it is........and as mentioned in my post it could only have come down otherwise to PPV shares, do you really think that's what it was about? They then got Tito to fill in who makes a 450K base, seems odd.

| While they may pay Tito more in base salary last I heard on his deal with the UFC he doesn't make bonuses. I would hazard a guess that he doesn't make PPV percentages either. In Machida's last fight I would think he made close if not more than Tito's base off his base, KO bonus, and PPV revenue.
Base salary: $200,000 KO of the Night Bonus: $129,000
He made $329,000 off his base salary and bonus alone. With between 500-800k buys for the event even if he made 50 cents per buy at the lowest portion he's pulling in another $250,000.

Or just some BS from Dana? I mean was the contract signed? there was never even an official report on the fight, just rumors. In the end he was bailing them out, no prob with him wanting more money, you don't think Tito is getting something out of this? It may not be money, but he's getting something. I love how in other cases some can never trust what Dana says but his word is truth in this case. You literally know no more details then what you've read, chill.

Can't count on KO bonuses, and from what I've heard Tito lost his PPV shares in his last contract, didn't hear anything about bonuses. And you know for a fact Machida gets PPV shares? Doesn't seem like the type too.
