Jon Fitch Out of UFC 132 Bout Against B.J. Penn Due to Injury

Fitch’s removal from the fight was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com by sources close to the situation on Wednesday.

While no details were available regarding the nature of the injury, it was severe enough for Fitch to withdraw from the July 2 card.

The bout was set to be a rematch from the fight Fitch and Penn had at UFC 127 in Australia that ended in a draw.

As of now the UFC has not found a replacement to step in and face Penn, but the search is underway.

MMAWeekly.com will have more information on Fitch’s injury and a replacement fight for B.J. Penn when it becomes available.

I really wanted BJ vs Fitch again so BJ could finally beat the most boring man on the planet but since he is hurt Condit would be a great replacement. LA u are right that BJ vs Jim Miller would be a great fight for a LW title shot.

Bj wouldnt beat fitch. Last time fitch underestimated bjs wrestling. A rematch could go 2 ways, penn could be more patient and let his punches go in the stand up instead of trying to smother fitch against the cage. This would allow bjs cardio to pull him through for 3 rounds, only problem is fitch will constantly try to take bj down and will win 3 rounds by pressing bj against the cage and having scrambles over top position anytime they hit the ground. Second scenerio is the exact thing that happened in their first fight with bj being agressive for the first round and half to gassing by the third and getting a beat down. Remember bj had nothing left and seemed as his will had been broken by the time the fight ended. I dont think even frankie made bj feel like that. Either way fitch wins. What would be cool would be if the ufc was to give them a 5 round main event to finally see fitch finish someone. On a side note, condit would be a good match up for either but he would get manhandled on the floor. Remember he did kinda ducked fitch already.

Brilliant move. Get people talking about it. It makes too much sense. The fight would be action.

BJ vs Condit would be a great fight between 2 of the best in the division.

If BJ uses the same strategy vs Condit as he did vs Finch then Condit is in a world of trouble. Condit is very well rounded, but I can't see him defending the takedowns of BJ or stopping his top game.

BJ probably would stand and trade with Condit though. It wouldnt be the best way for him to win but thats the way he is.

While I think BJ would still win, it leaves the door open to Condit catching him like he did Hardy or BJ getting outworked like Edgar did to him. Condit has a pretty high motor and a plus gas tank.

I agree it leaves the door open for Condit but thats just what I think BJ would do. He would trade unless he got rocked then he would go for the takedown. Not the smartest move but thats BJ. He loves to put on good fights for the fans.

Condit all day. I think Condit outworks BJ and wins a decision.
