Subject: Does BJ Penn have to smack a Fitch? Mon Jul 30, 2012 7:09 pm
B.J. Penn released his first UFC 152 video blog over the weekend, and he wasted no time giving someone a verbal lashing. You'd think it might be his opponent Rory MacDonald, who had some critical things to say about BJ at a press conference last week. But Rory wasn't the subject of Penn's ire this time around. Instead he went after former opponent Jon Fitch, who apparently has a problem with Penn training at American Kickboxing Academy. Here's what he had to say:
Quote :
"We’re over here in Honolulu right now, training. We’re gonna be here for a month, and then we’re gonna see where we’re gonna train next month. We’re trying to get up to AKA, but Fitch is trying to give me some problems about that. And all Jon Fitch has to do is look on the wall [at AKA]. Whose picture is on the wall holding the belt? That’s all Jon Fitch has to know."
Penn worked at AKA with Dave Camarillo and Bob Cook when he first came over to San Jose back in the mid-90's. Fitch, who went to a draw with Baby Jay back at UFC 127, hasn't responded to Penn's comments yet but I have a feeling he will at some point. You can check out the whole video blog after the jump. In other news, I dig Penn's RVCA shirt in the blog.

Speaking of AKA. Kos seems a bit bitter about AKA

"Here at AKA, we've got fighters who come out to fight, fighters who will face anyone and don't hide from any opponents. You've also got cowards out there like B.J. Penn who say they want to fight people, but then they run and hide."
"Yes. He's a coward. He wouldn't be welcomed here."

Wow, now I really want to see a reunion of Dave Camarillo, Bob Cooke and BJ Penn.

Yeah I think BJ Penn is probably the best thing out there for Fitch these days. He couldn't get an UFC title shot back when he was on his winning streak, now he hasn't won a fight in 2 years. So with no chance of sniffing the title anytime soon and being 34 years old. Beating BJ Penn is the best thing he could accomplish in career now.

I like that Roan Carneiro, over five long years ago, was the last fighter Fitch was good enough to stop. And that AKA wouldn't welcome Penn, I guess he doesn't know that Penn was living with Cooke and Mendes training martial arts while Fitch was still in high school.

Fitch should prove he isn't a coward and fight Koscheck.

I use to have alot of respect for Fitch. But this is pretty pathetic.
