"Mayhem" Miller vs. Tim Kennedy III no longer happening at "Strikeforce: Ohio"

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) reported the bout was being finalized earlier this month.

However, sources close to the fighters since have told MMAjunkie.com the bout has been scratched, and a Strikeforce official confirmed the scrapped plans over the weekend.

No reason was given for the change, though spokesperson Mike Afromowitz said the matchup never had been signed in the first place.

The March 5 event, tentatively dubbed "Strikeforce: Columbus," takes place at Nationwide Arena as part of Strikeforce's Ohio debut. The night's main card, including a headliner between light-heavyweight champion Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante and notable Dan Henderson, airs on Showtime.

Kennedy and Miller would have fought for the third time. Back in 2003, a little-known Kennedy upset Miller via decision at Extreme Challenge 50 in Utah. But four years later in the second and final HDNet Fights-promoted show, Miller survived a deep rear-naked-choke attempt and ultimately enacted his revenge with a decision victory of his own.

Ohio was expected to get the rubber match, but the fighters will be shifted to other matchups.

But I can only hope this means they are working on Miller-Diaz. Not sure what other reason there would be for breaking this up

That would make sense, Diaz wasn't too interested in Daley or Woodley at the moment. I don't know what other options they have for Nick? I think you are right and we will hear about Diaz-Miller soon.

Thats how I feel, this was gonna be my birthday present but I just might stay home and watch it at the house and get smashed there. Thanks for fucking up my birthday plans SF, I like Hendo but I'm not paying to just come watch his fight.

Dude you should come to the Fight Night here in Louisville on March 3rd. Not far of a drive for you. My buddy has tickets for me and a bunch of us thru his work. I am gonna be in the Thornton's suite in the YUM! Center. We only have to pay 42 bucks for each ticket. They have alot of the 80 dollar tickets left and they look like pretty good seats. They have a pretty good all around card for this show imo. I would have rather went to the SF show if Miller vs Kennedy 3 was happening, but that isn't the case.

i know Rockhold isnt Mayhem, but he's a solid replacement IMO

still wanna know why they scrapped the fight though

on a side note, how awesome would Mayhem vs Diaz be as TUF coaches?

Kennedy vs Miller 3 is the deal breaker? Hendo not fighting, that's a deal breaker for me. I will be at SF still.

When there is only one fight I care in the slightest about, then yes its a deal breaker

has werdum vs overeem been announced? and if so, where is it being held?

why not put that fight on here?

Kennedy vs Rockhold is solid. But it's pretty a big step up for Luke, and he's been out a year.

The card could def use another good fight.
