Jake Shields vs Mayhem Miller for Strikeforce Interim Title

Former Elite XC welterweight champion Jake Shields and former ICON Sport middleweight champion Jason “Mayhem” Miller will battle it out for the interim Strikeforce middleweight title sometime soon.

No firm date or location is known at this time. Miller made the announcement in a recent forum post over at MyFightTeam.com.

Here’s the snip:

“I’m set to take on Jake Shields for the middleweight championship of the world in Strikeforce.”

Kind of funny since Jake was on Bully Beatdown. I guess this time he is going to take himself to get beat up.

Good fight, glad they found Jake a good opponent, even though the guy is a true WW. Would love to see Jake jump to the UFC as a WW and Mayhem comeback as a MW.

I'm a Mayhem fan, so will be rooting for the guy, but he's gonna get subbed.

Good to see you back. I agree Mayhem is getting subbed in this one. Not sure who I will be rooting for, I like Shields camp better.

this fight is still a ways away. No date is even set yet.

how long? with who? strikeforce or dream cause ive seen miller in dream a couple of times.

millers stand up game is tight! but who cares about that show? ive only seen two episodes maybe. but jake was on there right lol? i know he was but he fought on there thats funny!

Jacare didn't sub him the first time. I don't see Mayhem getting sub'd here. I think he will win.

Hope ur right Wolfy, I actually think that Mayhem is a tougher fight for him then Robbie was.

I don't. Robbie is a BAMF that would kick the shit out of Shields in a rematch.

Robbie is an exciting fighter, but Nick KO'd him at WW and he has pitter patter hands. Ya I know he's a different fighter now. Whatever. He's overrated as shit.

Interesting fight, smart move by strikeforce. Mayhem is a good name and a good persona, he is his own marketing agency. Def a guy who I though strikeforce should have signed a long time ago.

If 185 is not strikeforce's best division it is clearly the 2nd best. Not so long ago it was dominated by strikers, but it will now have two submission artists battling for the belt.

Not sure what Mayhem's near term schedule looks like, but I'm sure Shields wants to get in there asap. Put this fight underneath Fedor vs whomever and you have the makings for yet another very solid card.

Not to get into a not happening anytime soon Lawler vs Shields rematch, but I'd pick Robbie to win. He got caught by a slick submission guy, he was overconfident in the standup, it happens.

Would love to see a Lawler vs Diaz rematch.

Totally with u Wolfy, what makes anyone think he'd beat Sheilds in a rematch? He wasn't even dominating Sheilds standing like was anticipated.

I was also pretty surprised that Shields was faring as well as he was in the standup of that fight. But just because Lawler was not in full domination mode 2 minutes in, does not mean he could not beat shields in a rematch.

Shields would snap one of Lawler's tendons next time.

I have to strongly disagree LA. If Jacare could not sub Mayhem there is no way that Shields will.

Jacare didn't sub him, but he has the skills too just like Shields does. JHust because it happened one way in one fight doesn't mean it won't happen in another.

Lawler was laughing at Shields stand up. They rematch I still take Robbie. There is still the chance he gets caught in a sub, but my money is on he'd be more careful and just stick more to standing outside.

i thought sheilds stand up looked scared and lawler knew it. too bad lawler wasnt cautious enough to beat him up before getting tied up.


for the record i had shields winning, lawler just doesnt seem to make great decisions like the top guys seem to always make

I got Mayhem in this fight... very good match for strikeforce tho
