| Strikeforce heavyweight champion, Alistair Overeem, revealed that he has no plans to defend his title until May 2011. Overeem is currently training for the December 11th, K-1 World Grand Prix 2010 final.
Overeem was crowned Strikeforce heavyweight champion in November 2007 when he defeated Paul Buentello for the vacant title. Using two big standing knees to the body, Overeem gained the submission victory along with the heavyweight belt.
Since winning the title, Overeem has defended it only once. In May 2010 he defeated Brett Rogers via technical knockout. Overeem used a series of heavy strikes to the head drawing the stoppage from referee John McCarthy at the 3:40 mark of round one.

| The Strikeforce Heavyweight title is worth less than a boxing ABC belt. |

| It's disappointing to hear that. I respect that he wants to compete in kick boxing at a high level and that he stays active in several orgs.(regardless of the comp sometimes), but I wish he didn't willingly spread himself thin. He has a meaningful title, but devalues it and the org it comes from by not making more of an effort to defend it, even if he would defend it against any of their top guys and not just either Fedor or Werdum. I wish he would be a fighting champ and willingly take on the the other Rodgers and AA's and Silvas in SF when things get complicated with scheduling fights with the top guys. | |

That's an insult to the sanctioning bodies, at least Vitali and Wlad defend their titles regularly against top ten opponents, Strikeforce don't have the backbone to strip Overeem. |

| All this is a joke, but maybe it's to setup a fight with Werdum, isn't Werdum out until March? that'd give him ample time to prepare, but all in all it's a joke. | |
