| http://www.mmamania.com/2010/2/12/1307771/anderson-silva-still-scheduled-for"UFC President Dana White recently confirmed to MMA Fighting that "The Spider" will still defend his 185-pound strap overseas as scheduled. Now it is a question of finding a suitable opponent on short notice to tangle with one of the world's best pound-for-pound fighters." So there goes any possibiltiy of Anderson fighting a 205er. | |

| Thankfully Dana has gone this route and not feed Anderson Randy's corpse or destroyed any hope of Vera-Jones winner ever becoming a suitable contender for 205 in the next 12 months. | |

| Just a little over 2 months after going 3 rds and suffering a gnarly gash on the forehead? I don't think Sonnen could get there.
ufortuneatley, he's the only interesting fight at 185 imo.

- Maia!!!!!!!!
I think Maia is a very real possibility since he suffered no damage last fight and is already in good shape. I think the UFC is hoping for Sonnen but Maia is more likely IMO.

| If I had to choose 1 "wild card" opponent I would choose Wandy. They have had words in the past and desperate times call for desperate measures. | |

| Say he doesn't defend his title. Why not Silva vs Silva. Thiago looked pretty good vs Rashad even if he losses. Plus Thiago always brings it. It could be another fight full of fireworks. | |

3 I think that fight would look like Thiago vs Machida. Plus Thiago is coming off a loss. What good does that do for either fighter? Thiago loses and falls even further out of the picture and Anderson has another meaningless win at LHW.

| As much as I would like to see him fight a truly legit 205er, there's REALLY none available. Sonnen does make the most sense if he can be ready. Doesn't matter who he fights at 185, he's not getting beaten short of the flukiest of flukes... | |

Thiago loses and falls even further out of the picture and Anderson has another meaningless win at LHW. It doesn't knock off a contender for the belt because Thiago already lost to Machida & just lost to Rashad, but it does still make an entertaining fight that gives Anderson a top 10 LHW. Plus he's not booked and should be able to fight that date.

I agree, if they are going to throw out a wild card, I hope he is it. Someone on ESPN forum brought up Cote since Anderson didn't exactly have much to do with the ending of that fight. But having Cote fight Anderson after a long layoff just seems cruel to me. Okami could give Anderson some revenge but he did just lose. Again if they are reaching, I hope they reach in the direction of Wandy.

| Sonnen or Maia, if Rashad wasn't fighting Page, it would have been cool to see Rashad drop down. | |

Wandy would get picked apart At this point we are really just throwin out "wild cards". Since really only Sonnen and then Maia make sense for a title defense.

| Honestly, Wanderlei is the last guy I want to see in there. His straight ahead style, coupled with his sloppy boxing would get him ko'd in the first round. Silva needs to fight guys who present intriguing stylistic matchups, like Sonnen. | |

The problem is how healthy and prepared can Sonnen be? He has to take time to heal then get back in the gym and ready. I think Maia would be the smarter choice since he is already in shape and healthy. Obviously Sonnen is further ahead the line for a shot but you have to consier the health and time going into the fight.

| Man Wandy would be the classic fall back plan. So much more interesting then Maia.
Obviously Sonnen is the #1 choice, but it's just not possible. Not for April 10.
