Subject: Andre Berto vs Freddy Hernandez being explored for Nov 27th Fri Sep 24, 2010 10:30 am
Multiple sources in Mexico are reporting that Freddy Hernandez (29-1, 20KOs) is under serious consideration to fight WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto (26-0, 20KOs) on November 27. Hernandez returned last week to stop Mike Anchondo in four rounds. Hernandez has not been beaten since a split decision loss to Golden Johnson in 2005.
Hernandez is said to be the backup opponent if a deal is not reached for a fight between Berto and mandatory challenger Selcuk Aydin. One report suggests that Aydin is once again being resistant to the idea of taking the fight in the United States. He would rather fight Berto in Turkey.
Berto's next fight will be on the Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Michael Katsidis undercard at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Celestino Caballero will also appear on the card, moving up to super featherweight to face Jason Litzau.

Is he going to fight B/C level competition forever? If he were doing so on a regular basis building up a number of decent wins then it might be okay. but when you fight only twice a year!!!!

This bout is so unsttractive, why is HBO bothering to spend money on Berto. Hernandez lost to Golden Johnson, enough said. Berto pussed out of the Mike Jones fight.

It's getting ridiculous now, Berto needs to vacate that trinket and start stalking Cotto.

Do you know why Arum turned down Berto for Cotto? because the guy that cant fill seats was asking for half the money HBO was handing out for the bout. Berto with his redicules demands is the reason he didnt get a fight with Cotto and Mosley.

It was Miguel who turned it down not Arum, Dan went over this in one of his chats.
And Cotto is in the position where he sells out venue's alone IE Jennings.

Ali, Arum turned it down
Hard to disagree with him
Quote :
"Absolutely, it’s totally arbitrary," said veteran promoter Bob Arum, a couple of weeks ago. "It’s based completely on how the representatives for the fighter can bullsh*t the network. Because, I mean, you get a kid like Andre Berto and Lou DiBella called me up and he said, ’How much do you think HBO would pay for a [Miguel] Cotto-Berto fight?’ I said, ’How much do you think?’ He said, ’About three million.’ I said, ’What does your guy want to do the fight?’ He said, ’About $1.8 million.’
"I said, ’Are you f**kin’ nuts?! Your guy can’t sell a ticket,’ Arum recalled. “It’s a totally artificial market. This reminds me of the tulips. Do you remember the tulips? Where they were selling tulips for unbelievable money; there was a market being made in tulips and suddenly, one day people said, ’What, are we crazy? They’re tulip bulbs!’ and the market collapsed overnight."

Shame on Lou for even having the audacity to ask for that figure, he should be pleading with Berto to take the fight.

Berto wants it in the US, Aydin wants it in Turkey, why not see what the London crowd can cook up?

I would love to hear Lou's side of it. Maybe this is the reason Lou claims he's disenfranchised with the sport.

Yup, just found that out the other day. I always thought it meant fuck the world. I've had to ask what most of the cyber acronyms and abbreviations have meant.

It's amazing that Hollywood Squares terminology thrives on the interwebz machine.

Gary Shaw already pretty much said it when Andre squared was going to call off their fight. Berto could be a cash cow right now. Put him on the same card as Pascal Hopkins and call it "Hatian Sensations".
