That doesnt mean he is not boring as hell. I fell asleep the last time I watched GSP. He just grabs you and lays there. Floyd Mayweather is the most complete boxer right now and he is boring as hell too. Some of the most exciting guys are not the best guys.

Yep. Best does not equal most exciting. The same goes for the opposite.
Marble would enter Winky here wouldnt he. LOL

Not really. In MMA the only person to be a star under Welterweight is BJ Penn.

Pulver in his prime was a huge star and is still loved by fans and was able to parlay success from years ago into WEC marketability, Sherk before he got busted had a lot of fans and still does, I remember when he defended against Franca the partisan crowd in the bar I was with were all big time for him, Florian has been a great star, Diego was another fighter who became popular at LW. Nevermind all the seasons of TUF to feature LW's.

You'll need to provide a single shred of evidence that little men don't sell in MMA or combat sports at all because that my friend is a complete antiquated myth. There isn't a shred of truth to it. The world is flat. The sun revolves around the earth. Humans were created by an invisible tyrant monarch in the sky. Smoking fights lung disease. Having sex with virgins cures AIDS. No one likes to watch little men fight.

All the same dude. Every person I've ever talked to who said they don't like watching the WEC because they were little guys had never watched it. Once they did they became hooked. Including our own sooners I believe(or was it regret?)

I think Lassie is right.

Yeah who would want to watch really fast guys throwing tons of kicks and punches.

I enjoy the lighter weights more than the "heavy" weight divisions.

Just more action, and it's little more pure in the technical sense. Big guys can get away with things that the little guys can't.

I feel it is that way in both MMA and boxing. Just more action when two mid-to-light weight fighters match up compared to the heavies lumbering around the ring/cage.

I agree, the little guys have more cardio, more transitions(in MMA), better technique and just more action period.

fuck no, I'm a little guy myself and have always LOVED the WEC. I was a huge Torres nut hugger. You must be misremembering, but I think I remember you talking to someone about the WEC but who it was is beyond me.

That is when I find MMA to be the most pleasurable to watch. Some takedowns, but it has to keep moving back and forth from stand-up to the mat. If it stays on the mat too long, the fight drags in my opinion.

One thing I can't stand, and I'm going to harp on my local boy from Stockton a bit... but sometimes when they start winging those sloppy punches, it just drives me crazy. If you watched the Nate Diaz prelim, yea, he tuned dude up but he was winging some ugly looking punches. Reminded me of a street brawl. Did not look 'professional' at all.

lol yeah both Diaz bros throw those crazy pitter pat punches, they don't have much power but they rattle your brain. They mix in a couple semi-power punches to add damage but mostly they just get you off you game plan and rattle you. Both guys have great length for their weight class so that is just one way they use their length.

Ya, boxing fans will likely gravitate more toward the small fighters because of speed and skill. There was a reason Miguel Torres was promoted like a boxer.

Don't get me wrong, they are from Stockton which is around the area I am from and I know him and his brothers are some tough guys. But those punches just make you LOL sometimes they are so wild.

Makes me wonder how he doesn't throw his shoulder out looping some of those.
