| Toney is an idiot.
He is over 40.
He looked bad the last 5 years he boxed.
HIs balance was gone his last couple fights
He couldn't control his weight and is rumored to have been around 300 lbs in the last year
Why does such a person decide to fight in another sport except for money!!!!!!

| The only upsetting thing was that Randy was too smart to even let him throw a punch. There's still no answer on whether elite boxing can translate to MMA. |

| James didn't look bad in 2003-2005 when he first moved to HW. He beat Holyfield, Booker, and ruiz (though he tested positive for a banned substance and Ruiz fight was changed to no contest). Not outstanding, but not that bad.
but his fights 2006-2009, were mostly bad.

He hasn't been close to elite in half a decade. He still has elite skills (especially compared to MMA boxing...not striking). I mean just in terms of whether positioning, boxing footwork, combinations and punching angles can boxing translate. |

| You know you guys would have been bragging like crazy if he won. I mean he fought an almost 48 year old MMA guy whose skin is close to Hulk Hogans. Next time send Mercer please! We know he won't freeze up and turn into a turtle. I think the crowd got too Toney also. He would have got beat anyways, but he was messed up when the crowd was booing and old man smiled at him. I hope Toney and Randy retire to an old folks home now.

| I would watch RJJ build a sandcastle so I hope DW brings him in. I would still like to see RJJ take Spider to school in a boxing match. | |

| i didnt see this predicable farse but since toney didnt throw a punch as stated herei guess he was taken down to the floor fast and the other guy throws several mediocre shots and toney goes in a shell and its stoped..how long was it 20-30 seconds.a joke..first the old adage apllies here as it does anywhere..you do not beat a man at his own game..toney in my eyes was a one time near great fighter that could of been better in the ring had to dedicated himself to real condition.. look you take these mma guys who realy have had years of training in boxing upright and put them in the ring with a boxer they get destroyed..ive seen to many of these matches where the first resonable punch landed decks these guys..they cant slip punches nor do they have a clue on how to fight upright..and they run out of gas fast..all this even though they have had years of fighting upright training. on the other hand they are realy exceptional in wressling..taking a guy down to the canvas and most of them have several different moves in counteracting things when on the canvas..many have years of real wressling experience and training..this is there forte..there training routine like a fighters is difficult hard and intense.its just different.. even a top elite fighter would be a underdog in a matchup because you do not become a expert in 2 months training the mma way and prepareing yourself for moves on the canvas.i dont care who that fighter is..the boxers chance is to land a punch upright or a uppercut when the mma guy comes in low and fast for a takedown..based on the several fights ive seen a boxer kos them with the first shot..if a mma guy can deck another mma guy with the first shot and they realy dont know how to punch in comparrision to a pro boxer then the mma guy gets koed with one shot.. ive seen there soo called legend the ice man lindell fight a few times..saw him decked with the first punch he got hit with in 3 of thoses fights..please.this is a legend.. the 2 sports are entirely different.in a contest like this ill favor the mma guy 7 or 8 out of ten times..in the ring elite to elite ill favor the boxer 10 out of ten times..you dont beat a man at his own game apllies very well here. with toney i watched the clips of him training..he was in slow motion and had to think long on his moves on the canvas..a combination for disaster..it has to be fast with instinct and knowledge on the canvas..2 mon ths of training is not going to do that for you.. | |

| I don't know why Toney would do this to himself. He had to know he wasn't that good of a "UFC" fighter the same way Leonard knew he didn't have it before he humiliated himself in the Camacho fight. These guys are crazy. I won't take back any of the postive things I've said about Toney throughout the years. I just think he worked too hard to go out a fool. | |

| toney did it for the paycheck. Even his delusional ass has to know he hasn't been the same boxer for half a decade. He is well past it and willing to do whatever for a couple of nice paychecks. | |

| COuture pounded TOney pretty good then got him in an arm triangle lasted just under 4 minutes
Toney got taken down first 20 seconds, it was pathetic how little he knew he wasnt doing anything right from the bottom

After it is all said and done Toney will make close to 1.5 million. Nothing wrong with that. I give the guy credit for conning his way into a paycheck and being man enough to fight in an environment he wasn't familiar with.

Blah blah ignorant boxing dipshittery blah blah. This is wrong and poorly thought out. The reason the standing technique looks so different in MMA because the stances, bobs and weaves and range in boxing is entirely different. Let James Toney fight an MMA striker and let him continuously duck under punches. He'd eat a knee and have his mouth piece surgically removed from his jawbone. I mean do you really think striking in MMA would look anything like a boxing match with kicks knees elbows and takedowns? The average MMA striker would cripple a boxer in a standing only match as long as kicks were allowed. Yes, MMA strikers would lose to boxers in boxing, but there is so much about boxing that is never, ever, ever trained in MMA that it's an unfair comparison. But let me guess, you'll say kicking is for girls in some stupid barely understandable ebonics/NY italian accent that all boxing trainers and personalities seem to have for whatever stupid reason.
