FINALLY Wlad Gets Ranked

Ring Magazine has FINALLY ranked heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko in the pound for pound top ten, at number 10.

This is LOOOOONG overdue and I still think he is ranked too low. The man has beaten something like eight ranked fighters in a row whereas say the more highly ranked Shane Mosely looked shot in his only fight in the last 18 months. Or how about Nonito Donaire? Two of his last three foes were coming off losses and the other guy just got waxed by Montiel in three rounds. Since he beat Darchyinian THREE years ago the guy has ONE win over a ranked guy and NONE in the last two years. Yet somehow he's moved into the #4 slot? REALLY????????

Better late than never for Wlad I guess.

Oh yeah the p4p top ten just got OLDER with an average age now of 33 and only one guy under 28, Nonito Donaire at 27. Just sayin'.

As for the bold, Shane is a partner in Golden Boy which owns the publication that creates the ranking.

Ring's P4P are done via a voting panel. The panel is made up of boxing writers (for the most part). The problem is these jokers vote for guys like Mosley. Mosley being in Golden Boy has nothing to do with it.

How many boxing writers buck the conventional wisdom??? If you go from Ring, to maxboxing, to boxingscene, to yahoo sports. to newspaper writers, you see alot of the same sort of stories and ideas.

Everyone here already knows my contempt for p4p discussions, and the passionate arguments they nearly always inspire.

If I were to pay any attention to that nonsense, I would be disgusted that Wlad is not in the top 5 for months now....same can be said for Vitali

Wlad has dominated the HW division every since Manny took over his training and I agree he should be ranked in the top 10. Long time coming.

It's about time Wlady got some recognition, good job by Ring.
