| Both SF guys are still pretty young, still building resume's, but both guys have looked top rate of late vs solid competition. Showing well rounded games. And whoever wins this will then have another very solid W on their record. Their cause was hurt with Shields leaving, both guys stood a solid chance vs Jake, but with their upcoming fight, and then a matchup with the tourney winner, one of these guys will have the oppurtunity to rank near the very top of the 185 rankings.
Lombard who boasts a 25-2-1 record, will continue to suffer from fighting outside the 2 big spotlight's, but u have to go back almost 4 years to find his last loss, a decision to Gegard in Pride. Since then he has wheeled off 18 straight,(though he does have a draw during that span), including 11 tkos(and a sub via punches). There is a "who has he fought factor" but he has finished a couple UFC vets(Jay silva via 6 sec KO and Kalib Starnes via 1st rnd Submission(punches)). His win over Hess, a very solid wrestler, is good as well. Not sure why he is not fighting shlemenko next, and this Goodman fight will not do much to earn him respect, so I figure he stays outside most top 10's. But he is in mine.

| I wouldn't have a problem with Lombard getting the winner. I am going with JA-KA-RAY for the win and would like to see him fight Mayhem. I hope SF has Mayhem and Diaz fight first and then Mayhem can wait for whoever fights Lombard and comes out the winner. | |

I've heard no mention of a Lombard vs SF champ fight. But it could make sense in terms of balancing out TV rights when coupled with a Gilbert vs Alvarez matchup. I know they are competitors, but some coopereation between the 2, should boost the spotlight on each promotion. And if each can gain recognition, that would chip away at the false notion of the UFC being far away the best MMA in the world.

| My worry is that MMA may not be big enough outside the UFC for two good second fiddles. | |

| Lombard quite simply hasnt beat anybody. Jacare and Kennedy have. I have Jacare at #8 i believe. Kennedy will probably get that spot if he wins and maybe move up a slot depending on who i have at 7, i would have to look at it. | |

| MW is deep with good, thin on great. Lombard could end up being a great, to early to gauge. The next SF MW champ has a legit top ten ranking coming their way. | |

| problem with Lomard is he is 32. I rank him top 10 now, though I admit he is not facing the highest of comp
Jacare is also already top 10, and could shoot up near the top of the division. I mean, what does Maia have to offer him? And we all know sonnen would be in big time danger of a submission from the opening bell.
And if anybody has seen Kennedy's takedown ability, and yes he has faced high level wrestlers, then we could very much expect him to give the reigning UFC champ a very tough time, and he, unlike Sonnen, is not a submission loss waiting to happen.
