I think it's very possible if Couture can get it to the ground. Anderson doesn't need much of an opening and I'm willing to bet that if Couture shoots for a takedown without brilliantly setting it up he's going to eat some punches. If he got it to the ground he could definitely win, though, same with GSP IMO.

| i give hendo i 185 the bets chance, other than Machida. Do you think if Dana Pay'd them enough they would consider it. Talking big money, get it done. | |

| From the sounds of it, no. That would be a hell of a fight though. | |

You keep feeding Anderson or a boxing a bunch of guys that will stand and trade and they're going to make them look silly.
Give them someone who can get the fight down or against the cage and we have something entirely different. He's not missing the point. He just refused to acknowledge how absurd it really is. Machida and Crocop would shoot on a pro boxer immediately.
Also, Silva has other elements of his striking game that make him so utterly dangerous to MMA fighters. His kicking defense(used against both Irvin and Griffin) his locktrap clinch(Franklin fights) and his kicking ability. Boxers would have none of that.
James Irvin and Forrest both TKO David Haye on the ground in the first round. Bet it. You're not getting it either. Anderson's defensive boxing and overall striking is better than anyone else's in MMA. If the very same guys who are trying to stand with Anderson stood vs a top boxer the ending would be similar.
To beat Anderson you need a Couture, Hendo, etc.... someone who can take a punch take Anderson out of where he is truly dominant. Now I'm not saying saying Anderson has bad BJJ or clinch work, obviously not. It is just that Anderson is so much better at stand up. You don't see people trying to sub Aoki or outwrestle GSP so why are people trying to KO Anderson on the feet? Like I said, we get it, we just don't see things as simply as you do. There is a reason people attempt to stay on the outside with him. Clinching with him unless you have absolutely top greco or muay Thai skills is fatal. A failed shoot for a takedown, fatal. Try to kick him? Fatal. The reason he can do what he does is because he is so dangerous across such a wide range. He can dictate the fight. Ya, we get that you're saying he has defensive boxing skills like that of a pro boxer, no shit, we all see that, but what you don't see is how he is able to implement those skills. If you found nothing but Chris Leben's, then sure, a boxer could do what Silva does. But not against Lutter, Franklin, Griffin or any of the other names he's destroyed.
