| "Yeah, I think there is a possibility of [moving to welterweight]. I don't in no way want to look past Frankie Edgar, he's a good fighter. You never know what could happen. But if I go back to welterweight, maybe I'll try to give it a run, maybe fight a couple of fights there, we'll see how it goes... I might try to do it permanent. We'll see, I just don't want to rush anything, just take my time and go out there and do my best... I think I could do good against some of the top welterweights. Yeah, pretty big guys, but you gotta live some times, you gotta step up sometime, huh?"
On who he will pass the 155 torch to if he makes the 170 move permanent: "Any of those guys, I think they all can. Those guys are all so good, I wouldn't be surprised if any one of them--Florian, Maynard, Gomi's coming in, that's going to be interesting to see what he can do, you got Frankie in there too. You got a lot of guys. Hopefully I just keep my title on April 10th, huh? I can't worry about those guys." - UFC Lightweight Champ, BJ Penn, via uk.sports.ign.com
I allways assumed that BJ was gonna try to hold the LW and WW belt at the same time. He might go to WW and leave his LW belt behind. Who do you guys think will hold the LW belt IF BJ leaves it behind? I wonder if Deigo would then move back down to LW? What do you guys think?

| I like the idea of Serra vs BJ at 170, Serra's camp mentioned that would be a fight they are interested in. It could help the put the winner in a nice spot. | |

That would be good IMO. I think if Hughes beats Renzo, and he probably will, BJ will face him. Lots of fights for BJ at WW. I just wish and hope he holds both belts at the same time.

I think Serra vs BJ would be more exciting then BJ vs Hughes. Both fights would make sense though. Put the winner in a spot for 1 last crack at the title.

| BJ to WW, GSP to MW, Anderson to LHW
And Serra? BJ would get a much bigger fight than that

And Serra? BJ would get a much bigger fight than that Why? He said he wants to start with a contender and go from there. Whats wrong with Serra? IMO he is still in the mix. You could give him winner of Kos vs Daley. Alves maybe if he beats Fitch. IMO Fitch shouldn't have to fight anyone after Alves, he should get a crack at the belt so I'm not going to throw his name out there unless he loses to Alves. I think Serra vs BJ makes a ton of sense, Serra deserves to have a top guy his next fight too.

| Not a big enough fight for the LW Champ and former WW Champ IMO
Watch him get Hughes if Hughes beats Renzo, BJ would tool him now.

Serra is also former WW Champ and the last guy to beat GSP. Either way it puts a former WW Champ in the mix for another crack at the title.

| i agree Bj vs Serra 2 would be a good first fight. BJ has to earn his title shot this time and climb the ladder like everyone else. | |

Any particular reason why you want him to hold both belts at the same time? I was actually kind of annoyed at the thought that it would be possible when he went against GSP last time. It's not like he's going to fight twice as often if he has two belts, so each title essentially would only be defended half as much. If he got hurt, both belts would be on hold until he recovered. The idea of someone holding multiple belts is kind of neat, but the problems it would create make it not worth it IMO.

| BJ Penn should fight in order-
Matt Serra Paul Daley Josh Koshceck Thiago Alves/John Fitch John Fitch/Thiago Alves
GSP will be at MW by then. |

GSP will be at MW by then. Not bad for now, but that last 2 fights would be in 2012. Who knows where those guys will rank then.

| BJ should give 170 a shot first and see how he does before making it permanent. The talent level there is very high and I'm not convinced he could dominate the way he does at 155. He could probably carry a winning record there and may even hold the belt for a period of time if GSP were to leave the division permanently. I just don't think he will come close to the success he has at LW. | |

| Who knows, he's never been on this level before. If he puts the weight on properly there could be no stopping him. | |
