| frank i did what you said and watched the second round since seeing that at the fight i didnt remember frazier at anypoint as you described as helpless against the ropes..after viewing it 1.joe was far from the ropes not up against it.sorry thats one point you got wrong..number two frazier was not helpless.far from it.yes he got stunned as i remembered it and backed up to avoid a punch..he sliped a few of alis punches and threw a few back that missed..his head was clear after that brief second legs were steady before perez steped in and when the bell rang moved quickly to his corner..he was never helpless at all.stunned and a brief second rubber legged and recouped..thats no where near helpless..after watching the first two rounds i said thats enough.frazier did soo many things wrong or shall i say did nothing..same old same old..moves foward without punching and to me thats BS not presure..needs to get his feet planted to throw can go on and on.sorry he wasnt helpless...helpless was earnie shavers against the ropes fighting ron lyle..frazier was never against the ropes nor in a helpless condition ... | |

| I don't see how the author could consider McClellan-Jackson, Pryor-Arguello, and Norris-Brown great rematches. They were pretty much mismatches. | |

| Kind of an odd list in my view.
How about Robinson-Turpin, Robinson-Fulmer and Robinson-Basilio?
Arguello-Escalera? Dejesus-Duran? Chacon-Limon? Mancini-Bramble?
Dempsey-Tunney? Olivares-Chucho Castillo? Ross-Mclarnin? Pep-Saddler?
Monzon-Griffith?
I love Graham Houston, but this is not his best work.

Good point. I think some people (myself included) had a misunderstanding that, in this thread, great was equal to the importance of the match, not necessarily the match itself. For example, Louis - Schmeling, was as one sided as a fight could get but great in it's importance.

For example, Louis - Schmeling, was as one sided as a fight could get but great in it's importance. The author could have meant that, yes. But then again, Norris-Brown II's historical significance didn't really mean jack squat either. I know Graham Houston wrote this, but it looks more like ESPN took some guy that covers tennis and told him to write a filler article for the boxing section.
