PostSubject: FNF showing a WBA Light heavyweight title fight next friday   FNF showing a WBA Light heavyweight title fight next friday EmptySun Jul 18, 2010 4:43 pm

July 23
At Leemore, Calif. (ESPN2): Beibut Shumenov vs. Vyacheslav Uzelkov, 12 rounds, for Shumenov's WBA light heavyweight title; Rico Ramos vs. Cuauhtemoc Vargas, 8 rounds, junior featherweights.

You might recall Shumenov, who only has 10 pro fights, taking the WBA Light HW strap from Gabriel Campillo in his last fight. Shumenov's opponent friday, Uzelkov, has an undefeated record, 22-0 (14 KOs) but all of his fights were in the Ukraine.

Should be a fun night of boxing, ESPN must be trying to get a more quality lineup on FNF.

Shumenov is the boxing equivalent of a kamikaze. Always worth watching.

Shumenov won the "title" (this IS the WBA we're talking about), on one of the worst decisions i've ever seen. And of course, Jerry Roth was involved.

He better show some improvement, Campillo had won at least 8 rounds from my view.

I heard a rumor that he wants the ghost of Roy, for a fight over in Boratstan. Sad thing is, I could see Roy taking it.

That's how I had it too. But you gotta love Shumenov's "cavemen are too sophisticated" approach to the sport. He's unbelievably fit, unbelievably determined and makes fighters like Alfredo Angulo look highly skilled.

I've seen Shumenov once and I definitely am going to watch or DVR this Friday's fight.

Friday night fights does a good job with their budget.
