Junior dos Santos vs Alistair Overeem odds: Who opened as the -240 favorite for the heavyweight title fight?

According to noted oddsmaker Nick Kalikas of BetOnFighting.com, it's none other than UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior dos Santos. "Cigano" opens as a -240 favorite headed into his first title defense against Alistair Overeem, which is scheduled for sometime in 2012, possibly the summer.

"The Reem" comes in as the underdog at +190.

Anyone jumping on this line with wallets wide open? Or do you expect a dramatic shift as we get closer and closer to fight night?

Overeem has been crushing the competition for years now, compiling 11 wins in 12 fights (one no contest) since 2007. He made a successful debut with the UFC last night (Fri., Dec. 30, 2011) by stopping Brock Lesnar in the first round by way of technical knockout using his vaunted K-1 level striking.

Apparently the oddsmakers think the heavyweight champ's boxing is better.

Dos Santos, no different than Overeem, has been absolutely destroying his competition. In fact, just like "Demolition Man," he hasn't lost a fight since 2007, the lone defeat of his career.

However, unlike "The Reem," the Brazilian bomber has been running through top competition inside the Octagon. He's 8-0 under the UFC banner with five knockouts, including his 64-second destruction of Cain Velasquez that earned him the heavyweight strap.

It's no wonder he's favored. But will the deadly Dutchman prove once and for all that he's the best striker in the world, at heavyweight at least?

We're still a ways away from fight time, Maniacs, but who do you like for your money and who ya' got straight up?

Looks right to me. JDS is quicker and going to work Reem over 5 rounds.

How is that not funny? Besides, sig bets do have rules. So long as it isn't porn or illegal images anything goes. Why just look at the one Ali made Me put up. But it's all in good fun, which is why we have sig bets to begin with. What do you think is going to happen when a bunch of dudes talking combat sports start making wagers on the fights that don't involve money? All thats left is humiliation and public spectacle.

imo either one can end the fight in seconds based on their size n power. This isnt frankie n gray wer gray can make edgar look like a noob and make him do backflips why grabbin on to the cage to prevent a takedown. In the end just like the lesnar(as long as he is willing to fight unlike last friday) vs reem, either can land a solid shot to put the other one down based on size and power. Jds is good, reem has been put to sleep, not tko'd but sleep multiple times . For that both will eat a few but reem will eventually go down as he has been multiple times.

While on Tuesday's debut episode of "UFC Today" on FUEL TV, UFC
president Dana White said he's tentatively scheduling a bout between
heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos (14-1 MMA, 8-0 UFC) and recent
UFC 141 winner Alistair Overeem (36-11 MMA, 1-0 UFC) for the summer.

However, no specific date has been determined.

"Hopefully this summer," White said when asked about the heavyweight tilt. "This summer is probably when it's going to go down.

What about the Fedor era? That seemed to go on for a little while...but now the UFC has it's very own HW era. I know one thing, JDS will beat Reem. IF he faces Mir, I know he will win that too. We already saw what he can do to Carwin and Cain...so, JDS era is here to stay.
