| Cappy is right, Hornbuckle was pretty much pulling guard as soon as Askren went for the takedown. If you couldn't see that you're blind. Not saying Askren doesn't have good takedowns, just saying Hornbuckle wasn't trying to stuff them. | |

| It progressed to that point because Askren's early takedowns were unstuffable. A lesser fighter wouldn't have taken Hornbuckle down like that. It is hilarious all the people downplaying his win. Hornbuckle never had a chance in this fight.

| Right LA, mr Mousasi is a top 50 with the worst takedown d in history guy and King Mo would lose to Jon Fitch.

| I picked Askren and said his wrestling would be the difference, still Hornbuckle has been taken down easy in his other fights by guys not on Askren's level, and now he's beating GSP? lets chill.
Mousasi does have weak takedown D

| Yo how is LA reacting to Kobe getting the MVP award? I swore I heard some boos from the hometown crowd last night. I thought Kobe was a big reason they turned around in the 4th. He was drawing everything, and went to the line what, 4 times for like 6 or 8 points. They were down three and he tied it finally with three straight freethrows. Huge defensive boards. | |

| Who else would've they have given it to? Gasol mailed in a few games this series and Artest didn't make one shot the first 5 games. Pretty much had to go to Kobe | |

| Def, he didn't have his best game last night, but stepped up when it mattered, plus without him they don't even get to game 7, or the Finals.
28.5 ppg, 8 rebs, 4 ast, 2 steals a game, that'll do it

| Yeah Askren got a couple legit takedowns but most of them were Hornbuckle not even trying to stuff them. And Wolf is right, he was probably not trying because he knew he couldn't stop them. Still doesn't change the fact that Hornbuckle wasn't trying for the most part.
I'm not bitter that Hornbuckle didn't win and I agree that Askren looked great. He was a fucking blanket on top of Hornbuckle. It was very impressive. I'm not a big fan of either guy so I just wanted a good fight more than anything.

| I'll take Hornbuckle standing or on the ground. Askren has looked vulnerable to subs, especially in his first fight with Ryan Thomas. His striking game leaves plenty to be desired and Dan has looked great in this tournament. where have I seen this before????? | |

| I thought Hornbuckle would win, but said I could see Askren grinding it out. And even with the domination Hornbuckle had 2 submissions attempts that were pretty close. And b4 your head get's too filled up with hot air wolf, be real for a sec, that was clearly wrestler vs jj player last night. I in no way came away from that fight thinking Askren is on Hornbuckle's level in terms of bjj.
But in terms of takedown's.
1) there weren't a ton of em, cause once Askren got him down, Hornbuckle could not get up. what was there one takedown in the 1st?
2)I won't disregard Askren's takedown ability, would be foolish to so.
3)If Hornbuckle was indeed pulling gaurd in the 3rd(which seemed foolish imo, but it sure did look like it), it would not have been the 1st time in this tournament that he did so. Def did it in the previous fight.

| Depends on whatever you think "BJJ" means. If you think it means "submission offense from your back" then ya of course you'd see Hornbuckles as better. Neither sub attempt was that close. Askren wasn't in much danger either time, and he defended his way out of any potential harm.
Askren has 100000000000000000000000000000 times better MMA Jujitsu. Even if you disagree with me June 2010, by June 2011 there will be no doubt as Askren's wrestling will mean his BJJ game has the ability to grow significantly faster and more dangerous than Hornbuckles's ever will. Askren destroyed Hornbuckle and took his moral last night. Case closed.

| crazy talk, that was straight wrestling and gn'p with some minimal jj defense. Let's not cloud the waters here. We all know there is a distinction between wrestling and jj. Askren is a top notch wrestler, who is still pretty green in the jj world. | |
