Title Contenders for 205

1. Evans is #1. He's beaten Thiago Silva & Rampage Jackson after losing the title to Machida.

2. Lil Nog is on a 7 fight win streak with 2 of those in the UFC. While he hasn't faced top 10 type opponents he isn't far. 1 big win and he has to get in there right?

3. Machida is still in the mix even though he did just lose it. He technically only has 1 loss and should only be a big win or 2 away from the title.

4. Couture gets title shot easier than anyone in the history of anything. He's 2-0 since cutting back to 205 and with a win over Toney plus 1 more big name and he'll get his 35th title shot.

Others to consider:
Anderson - he should get a title shot over anyone whenever he wants as far as I'm concerned.
Jones - he's taking his time, but he's due for a big fight soon. He's slowly building a strong resume and still undefeated as far as I'm concerned.
Rich - With a main event win over Chuck, he may be in the mix with a few more big ones.

Evans,Lil Nog,Machida,Bones,Bader and Griffin.

Franklin like it or not vaulted himself into the contender discussion with his win last night. Knocking out Chuck Liddell in the UFC statistically 100% of the time results in becoming the champion in a fight or less.

Couture is fighting Toney at HW, so win or loose it shouldnt do anything for his 205 status...

I agree, A setup for a Rich vs Randy fight could present it self though. Randy fights in a few months which is at least how long Rich has to rest then rehab his arm.

So if Mac Danzic moves up and beats Anderson, Fedor, and Shogun then he still shouldn't be in contention at 155?

Couture vs Griffin would be a good fight but i just see couture pushing rich against the cage the whole fight, remember Rich is a middleweight from the get go and couture a HW, I think Couture would be way too strong for him

It's not that fighting at heavyweight shouldn't get him a title shot it's the fact that he's fighting James Toney that shouldn't get him a title shot. If he were fighting Cain Velasquez or Frank Mir and he beat them then different story.

I think next 4 are, Evans, Nog, winner of Rich vs Randy[(a win vs Toney shouldn't but does move him up the ladder)yes I think that is a worthwhile fight] Lyoto.

I love Jones, i'd build him up slowly, still so young.

The best way to build him up is give him a title fight.

Too soon for Jones. They should 1st test him against either Franklin or Thiago Silva.

Thiago Silva should be next for Jones.

Nog has a top ten win. Luis Cane was a top ten LHW when Nog fought him.

I would actually like to see Nog fight Randy once he ground and pounds Toney into oblivion -- the winner being the next to fight for the title.

Nog would stop Randy with punches in 1:23 seconds of round 1. He is a faster version of his brother who boxed Randy's ears off.
