You think so Ali? Dude looked outclassed tonight, he has no power, and he's injury prone, who can he beat at Jr. Middleweight? He showed heart and guts, fans will respect that. I could see Foreman beating Spinks.
He showed some heart and some guts, and he probably made some fans, but I don't see his career going anywhere. As for beating Spinks, that wouldn't be any great accomplishment. P-Willie, Angulo, Sergei Dzinziruk, Martinez, and even Vanes Martirosyan would tear Yuri Foreman a new asshole. You can have all the "heart" in the world, but if you don't have some power to go with it, you're in a world of hurt. That display of courage and heart from Foreman just bought him another HBO date, if he had quit or lost without the injury he would he been back to obscurity. |

| Again, good win for Cotto for his debut at 154
Foreman a very respectable opponent IMO
Be great to see how Cotto does against the top Jr MWs

| I disagree with Roy Jones and I do think that his height will be a negative for him at this division. | |

| I really don't understand all the negativity on this thread. Why even watch boxing if you can only see the negative in a fight like that? It was a great fight. Cotto was excellent, and Foreman showed tremendous courage. After seeing the disgusting antics of Hopkins and Cintron as of late, what a privledge to see a young fighter willing to fight on through such adversity. | |

| Gutsy effort by Yuri, he'll at least get one more HBO date out of his effort tonight. That being said, I don't think he can beat most of the top ten at 154, maybe Spinks.
While Cotto has certainly been better, it was a good "get well" fight for him, and a big confidence builder. I don't think he gets past P-Dub and Martinez, but he has a reasonable chance against most of the other top ten at 154.
And for some comedy gold, head to the other board, where the Flomo's (who all picked Foreman to outslick and cut up Cotto) are having a fit.

| I don't understand the negativity as well.
Foreman-yes he isn't a puncher. But he was legitimately ranked as number 6 by ring at 154. Had won a belt. And if the knee is okay, and you put him in with the other top 10 guys at 154, I believe he beats about half, a couple beat him down, and a couple he loses close decisions. He is a good boxer.
MORE IMPORTANTLY-He fought with heart. We see guys get out of fights, ask out of fights, etc... He did nothing of the sort.
Cotto-beat a legit ring ranked fighter at 154 and wins a belt. That is a good night. His balance, footwork, and positioning of his gloves and arms were better tonight. Those were technical things Manny had said he was working on.
He worked behind the jab. He worked the left hook more as his confidence grew.
to be so negative about Cotto makes no sense to me. He beat alot of very good fighters at 140 (former beltholders, fringe contenders, fellow prospects, and a couple of guys who won belts after fighting him). Then at 147 he fought half a dozen ring ranked guys.
HARDLY ANY OTHER FIGHTERS ARE DOING SO IN ANY WEIGHT CLASS!!!!
Do people realize we give credit for the Super 6 fighters for facing the other top guys at 168. The entire Super 6 is going to take what 20 months or so.
In 36 months:
Cotto faced Quintana, Judah, Mosley, Clottey, Margo, Pac. All ranked at 147. Most were ranked in the top 5. He already fought his super 6 at 147. He beat 4. He lost to 1 guy who was found to have loaded gloves in a later fight. And he lost to a fighter who is an all-time great and named fighter of the decade by boxing writers.

Duuuuuuude, but Cotto is not from the 1950's. He sucks.

| I don't know about it being a great fight, but I thought it was very entertaining, and I was glad to see Cotto looking sharp at 154, and winning another world title.
BTW, dmar, you have the right to your opinion, if you think the fight sucked, that's the way you saw it. I will say this, I believe you saw the fight on a stream correct? Check it out on a HD big screen TV before making your final judgement, I thought Cotto looked damn good.

Ali had a much better link then the one I posted dmar, it was in the actual HBO fight, and the stream was good, I wish you'd gotten that one.
