| Overeem was most certainly winning that fight and tagging Chuck until getting buried with that overhand right. Dana probably had piss going down his leg that night | |

| Yea but bottom line, Chuck still knocked Overeem the FUCK out. He did his job. Apparently you have to dominate every second of the striking or you become overrated now i guess. | |

| What does Machida have to do with this? He got Ko'd by a better striker in his Prime than Chuck.
The point is that Randy and Tito were great fights for Chuck, and that if Chuck were fighting higher caliber strikers the results would be very different.
I figured this was common knowledge at this point.

| Well he's fought and beaten some great strikers so sorry i don't agree. I think Chuck in his prime could bang with the best and hold his own. | |

| Chuck is one of my favorite fighters all-time but I'm also logical enough to realize it, who is the best striker Chuck beat in his and their prime? | |

| There is hardly a bout with a striker Chuck was in his over entire career that if he didn't have a chin of stone he wouldn't have been sleeping in. His defense has always been porous at best and flatout bad at worst. His defense against both head punches and leg kicks is terrible.
Overeem was beating the fucking shit out of Chuck and Guy Mezger was beating the holy shit out of Chuck and Rampage did beat the shit out of Chuck. None of these guys were close to the best LHW in Pride at the time and Liddell barely survived bouts with all of them.
You can't tell me his striking isn't overrated when every striker he has ever faced almost or did knock him out. It is no secret the UFC chose to recycle wrestlers who were scared to death of his power than make an effort to bring in strikers during his run. There is a reason Couture thought he could chase Chuck down, and Chuck only started to lose once he got into bouts with strikers who would beat him standing as opposed to shooting for takedowns in fear.
Liddell is one of my top fighters, and I rooted for him against both Tito and Wanderlei when those fights went down, but I see things for what they are. If Liddell had ever fought Mirko Crocop that would have been one of the most one sided assbeatings in Pride history. I don't think Liddell would last 5 minutes with Crocop.
I donno why Chuck fankids have to take the reality so personally. We like Chuck too, he just as a striker is overrated. There is also a case against Ortiz and his pure wrestling being overrated.

| I think you're putting to much into the opponents. As far as strikers at the LHW division he's def top 3 all time imo. Shogun and Page ahead and that's it. | |

| Liddell wasn't the best striker, but he was one hell of a puncher. His chin, wrestling ability both offensively and defensively and his power masked all his mistakes. | |

| How are you gonna honestly rank Wand over Chuck? I dont care if they weren't in their prime, that fight still counts for something. | |

| Im with Oggy, Chuck is a pure striker who most rank in the top 2 all time at 205, how can we then say his striking is overrated. Power and chin have to be factored in. It is with Rua. | |

| Chuck is 1/2 alltime at LHW based on legacy and resume, but talent would be very different.
This is a talent argument, saying he was overrated as a striker.
