| I would pay the PPV price for this if there were no other fights. Been looking forward to it. The Kos/Daley is like bonus. | |

| kind of surprised by the lack of buzz 4 this fight. I thought there would be major hype leading in, but it kind of snuck up, the pbf fight took alot of spotlight I guess. | |

Beat me to it. I think most of us have been weary of diving back in with this rematch. Pretty spirited discussion last time. But it's 3 days away. Needs talking about.

Is it really an upset if he's already "beaten" him?

Is it really an upset if he's already "beaten" him? I saw the results of the fighting in the last fight as barely an upset. The question was more of how back is he from his injuries. For this fight the early line is as surprising as I could ever imagine. Prob will put down some green for this.

| Shogun has seemed to keep getting better since joining the UFC. I just wanna see someone finish the fight and not a decision. | |

| Machida wins again, Shogun fought the perfect fight the first time, but didn't get he decision. Machida will have learned and adapted. I think Machida finishes Shogun or wins a UD | |

Is it really an upset if he's already "beaten" him? He didnt beat him.. so your statement has no merit to this situation. But to answer you question: yes, it is possible to upset someone you have already beaten. I am pretty sure everyone will think that Frankie will need to upset BJ again.

| I hear a lot of talk about 'Machida is gonna change his game and Shogun will have no answer". Change the game that has worked so well in the past? Change the game that got him to where he is? So easy to say. The need to do it because it was ineffective and well countered in their first meeting... What part of Machida's game which had been so good before was effective? It certainly wasn't circling to Shogun's right for 25 minutes or having his counter opportunities limited. WHat can he change, really? His style has been conditioned to a point where to up and switch stlye and fashion could be fatal. He needs to change a lot and that is asking for trouble. And to say he doesn't need to change much because he was given the win is quite blissful. | |

| It isn't so much that Machida needs to change his game, it's more that Shogun fought literally the perfect fight in their first outing and still didn't get the decision. I also thought it was a razor close fight that could have gone either way. Machida won't change his game, but more so know in part what to expect and can/will adapt his game. Machida can do more to his game plan in a fight he won originally than Shogun who lost ironically. I'd like to see Machida press the action more, everytime he did in the first fight he had Shogun in a little trouble. Shogun has that one effective weapon against Machida, leg and body kicks, but now Machida knows the timing and that Shogun will use them and often. Shogun isn't scoring takedowns against Lyoto and his hands aren't as good as Lyoto's. I don't really see what he can do this second time around that he didn't do the first time, but now Machida knows what's coming. | |

doubt Machida changes much, other than not having a broken hand for 18 minutes.. which is all he needs to change in my mind. I am in the belief that it is Shogun that is needing to change his gameplan, because obviously his "perfect game plan" (as many here called it) he had during the first fight didnt get it done..

| If Shogun fought the perfect fight, what kind of fight did Machida fight? The view comes down for the most part, not to the winner by verdict, but who won the fight. I think Shogun did fight, not the perfect fight but the, winning fight and was the better man. The judges didn't. I thought Machida did not fight effectively and was out gamed 75% of the fight, the judges didn't. I think Shogun couldn't get it done only because of questionable judging not because he didn't fight a better fight. I think the judges scorecard for this fight is a wafer thin backing to the why of the subject. He out struck the guy who gets hit less than Fedor, who few if any will ever finish. Fact is Machida is always gonna have that W on Shogun. That fact doesn't come close to telling the story.
Would be interesting seeing Machida try to be the offender. He has gotten really far by having great defense, backing away and countering and lunging power shots after he figures out a distance.
I don't buy the assumption that Machida knows what he will get now and be better equipped. Shogun is not gonna be identical either regardless of the effectiveness he displayed in neutralizing the best parts of Machida's game. Shogun came up as a bull with relentless onslaught (at least in a lot of the fights he kept his lungs in Pride). Yet he displayed discipline and worked a sound, effective strategy unlike other times. I was kinda surprised. It seemed subtly, intelligently different for that fight. That it can't evolve and expand as well is not out of the question.

| I expect nothing less than another epic battle between two of the best lhw's around. I def had Shogun winning the first fight but it was close and this fight can go either way as well. I want Shogun to win but if he doesn't (as long as it's not by judge robbery) I won't be pissed. | |
