| The search continues for a dance partner for IBF super-middleweight champion Lucian Bute and his return to his native Romania on July 24th. According to Interbox officials, WBO champion Robert Stieglitz has turned down a potential chance at unification. “It is the biggest and most significant offer we’ve ever given to an opponent of Lucian Bute. We got the answer today and unfortunately the answer was no.” With a six pack of contenders being occupied by the current Showtime televised tournament, the pickings for potential opponents are slim within the 168 division. Off the fourteen listed IBF contenders, a full seven are boxers either involved in current tournament or people Bute has already beaten. The Montreal boxer awaits the winner of the #2 and #4 contenders Jesse Brinkley and Sakio Bika in a fight set for May, but there wouldn’t be enough turn around time for that fight to happen in July. http://www.fightnews.com/?p=44247 |
