I thought the myth that was Alves had been squashed? Nick would pick him apart and straight work him over, and you know this...man.

Alves got held up against a cage by Fitch and Story for a few rounds. Sorry if I don't think that proves that Nick Diaz beats him in a striking match which is exactly what it would be

I've got Nick all day in a striking match with Alves.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be a close fight, but Alves would likely brutalize Nick's front leg just as Cyborg was doing and has great technique in his boxing as far as throwing straight shots. Nick would be taking some punishment for sure.

Im with Bobbitt. Alves has sick standup and I think it would be in Nicks best interest to go for the takedown.

I know Cyborg is not the complete striker that Alves is, but I don't know if Alves would lay the wood on the leg the way that Cyborg did either. That was some pretty brutal work by Cyborg, and it didn't faze Nick in the least.

Nick has certainly proven capable of taken punishment. He's also proven capable of overwhelming quickhanded and heavy fisted strikers. That's exactly what I'd expect here. A good exciting fight in which Nick breaks Alves down via reach and volume.

Bobbitt knows damn well that would be the outcome. He just refuses to acknowledge it at the moment. Even if he is no longer willing to say "Alves owns Nick" like he did a couple years ago.

There's no evidence I've ever seen that would lead me to believe Nick Diaz blasts Thiago Alves. None at all

yeah yeah yeah, if they fought, you would not expect Alves to win. No matter what you may say, you know who you think wins that matchup.

You obviously hold Nick in a much higher regard than I do. When he gets tooled by BJ it will be a nice welcome back to the big leagues

BJ moves back to lw after Diaz busts him up good.

This is an awesome fight though. I can't say that enough.

If BJ tools Nick my fandom will be humbled. But what happens after he whoops that ass? You gonna change your tune? Don't worry I'll be here reminding you about it.

Factor in reach and volume of strikes. You are in for a serious wake up call. Seriously you want to do an AV bet? If BJ stops Nick I'll give you my AV for a month, if he wins a dec you get my AV for a week. But when Nick wins you only owe me 1 week.

No I'm fine for an AV. I think BJ is going to beat Nick handily

So are you a Diaz hater or just a massive BJ Penn fan? Or maybe you are off your meds?

Neither. Don't like the matchup at all for Nick. I think BJ's hands are too accurate and fast for Nick who doesn't really pay much attention to his defense. Penn is a class above the sluggers that he has been overwhelming with volume and cardio in his SF run. I think Nick is going to get hurt for sure and BJ is a pretty damn good finisher. I'm sure he could put Nick on his back too if there was ever a need for him to do it

See this is what sucks about these two guys fighting for me. All I can allow myself to say is I can't wait to see this fight.

Man I think you are seriously underestimating Nick's chin. I won't argue that BJ's standup is superior to the guys Nick has faced recently but he does not hit harder and won't hit Nick any harder then has been hit recently. I won't be shocked if BJ wins the fight, I expect it to be a classic battle. But I will be extremely shocked if BJ dominates Nick, I'll have an extra large bucket of crow if that is the case. But I can't help but sense a little haterisim in your evaluation of the fight.

I'm gonna list a couple fighters in each division and you say yes or no

HW
Carwin, Cain or Dos Santos

LHW

Lil Nog, Thiago, Forrest or Bones

MW

Sonnen, Vitor, Maia, Marquardt, Okami or Wandy

WW

Kos, Hughes, P Thiago or Diego Sanchez

LW

KenFlo, Gray, Sherk, Griffin, Sotiropulous or Cerrone

Yes to all of them. None would be major dogs in any title fight with SF contenders or champions.

Sure, P4P he may not hit any harder than Daley, Cyborg, etc but BJ's boxing and accuracy is way ahead. Even at 170, when Penn hits people on the chin they're getting hurt. Nick isn't immune to getting rocked, he just has excellent recovery skills. I expect BJ to rock him early in this fight
