You know Kings, I rewatched that last night and I think he was trying to get Jake's attention to get him to wrap it up since they were so long on time and he wanted to get his statement in about how disgusted he was before they went off air.

That's what it was. A 'wrap it up already Jake, I need to talk to the camera and your in my way' rub and pat.

I think he was trying to squeeze into the picture, I think he wanted Jake to move to side a little bit so he could slide into the frame. That is what I thought he was doing.

I deleted it after I watched, but right after that Jake wrapped it up and I thought Mauro stepped in to say his peace... Then Gus commented on how they were out of time while giving his wrap up. Maybe the final part was reversed? Either way, he wasn't going to allow the show to end without giving his 2¢...

Crazy seeing Bones and Cain on this list now. Also LOL at all the Alves>Diaz talk. Never at any point in either's career would that be a true statement.

Diaz not exactly the kind of fighter that has given Alves trouble, unless he's magically 20x stronger than the last time he fought

What? I still think Alves is pretty freakin good. Would I pick him against Nick? Hell No but it wouldn't be easy for Nick

It was an absolute joke that before the Story fight Alves was still talked about as a title contender. Only bigger joke was Hardy as a contender.

I always thought Alves was more than a tad bit overrated. Diaz is a superior talent.

Alves at the end of the day, despite all the UFC's listed skills(like the black belt in BJJ despite the fact he looks hapless on the mat against grapplers) that make him appear to be well rounded and his physical attributes is fairly one dimensional.

Hey I didn't do to bad considering this is older than Hell. Particularly with the Bones pick! I look pretty smart on the whole Fedor thing these days too. Now if I could just get this shit to work when I do pick ems and GOR.

Really? Why? I would almost be cool with you saying that if it was after the Story fight but before that fight his last loss was a hard faught decision against Fitch. Is it because you thought he should've dismantled John Howard that you see him being a contender as a joke?

I didn't see the Story fight so maybe he looked like complete shit then OK but before that?

He won the 3rd round of the Story fight and if he fought the whole fight like the 3rd he would have won.

Diaz has had about 4-5 fights since then and Alves has had about 3, and 1 of them was a gimmie squash match and the other two proves the point i just made. Much too dated to trap me, but good try.

So while funny that it comes in the same thread(which is what might happen when you re-open ancient discussion to relevant discussion ) My opinion of Diaz has grown since then while my opinion of Alves is stagnant, if not less.

You only win on Douglas Crosby's card. The other two judges have it an easy 30-27 Kings.

Yeah but the promoter still gave me the belt. You will have to file with the commission if you want it turned into a NC. Until then I'll run around arms up with my belt.

Alves got held up against a cage by Fitch and Story for a few rounds. Sorry if I don't think that proves that Nick Diaz beats him in a striking match which is exactly what it would be

We're always right a year later Drew and we both suck at pickems. That's just how life treats us. I gotta admit that Hardy had my ass fooled big time though. I woulda picked him over Diaz a month before GSP beat Hardy. Jeez!

Yeah I think Nick uses the jab and he can score a win, but I wouldn't bet money on him beating Alves just yet. Diaz has beaten some good guys outside of the UFC but I don't think he is a top 5 WW still. I wouldn't be surprised to see a guy like Alves overwhelm Nick and KO him. Cyborg and Alves are two different beasts.
