That's sick man. How much do they charge for them seminars? $20 for 2 hours is the plan. I figure its pretty cheap because they guy is an Aggie and most of the people coming are Aggies as well. Chad Kight used to teach my daughter's BJJ class, he was a purple belt at that time. Now she's trained by different coaches but the owner of the gym is an MMA fighter named Chad Robichaux, he's undefeated and a black belt. Yeah he's opening a gym in Sugar Land now. I used to live in that area and would probably give it a try if I still did. Both Chads are really nice guys. Kight is a bit of a surfer dude type but he's very good on the mat. I have no doubt you'll learn a thing or two. I totally understand when you say he's a "surfer dude type". The guy is skilled though. We worked a lot on tightening up the arm bar from mount & transitioning to a triangle too if they block the armbar. We also learned a neat arm bar from side control. A few other things and some takedowns too. He really crammed a lot of stuff in 2 hours, but not too much where I'll forget it all tomorrow. Good stuff, spending two hours with a guy like him has got to be helpful.

I've never done GI either. I don't see the benifit of it over no GI. Yes there are more chokes and more control, but how foten will be in a fight with someone wearing GIs.

| I do agree if your training to fight in a cage no-gi makes more sence but I don't know cause I've never done it. Knowing the gi chokes sure would help in a street fight though I would guess. | |

| Then again if training with a gi doesn't help cage fighters then why do so many train with gi? Maybe just for the credentials? | |

| It depends on what you hope to learn from BJJ. If you are just doing it for MMA or to be able to surprise people in a street fight, i guess you go no gi....i always wear a gi except one day a week where i go no gi...the grips are important and it opens up a lot more submissions and sweeps. I often see those who usually train no gi get worked pretty hardcore when they finally put on the gi. There is more techniques to learn with the gi than without IMO.
I do enjoy no-gi as well, it's just the school i train at only has one no-gi night, every other day is gi.
