| http://www.mmamania.com/2010/1/12/1246860/ufc-112-frankie-edgar-vs-bj-penn"If there was any question as to who BJ Penn was likely to face on April 10 at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi, then Gray Maynard probably gave us "The Answer" during his main event against Nick Diaz at UFC Fight Night 20 in Fairfax. "The Bully" was one fight away from emerging as the clear-cut number one contender; however, his performance against Diaz left a lot to be desired as the former TUF stars hacked and slashed their way to a sloppy split-decision that ultimately favored Maynard. And the former All American out of Michigan State wasn't exactly calling for Penn's head after the victory. Perhaps it has something to do with their history as training partners, or maybe he realizes he needs a bit more polish before challenging for the title. Whatever the case may be, the UFC brass will probably concur. In the wake of "Maynard vs. Diaz," Frankie Edgar has now emerged as the division's front runner for the next crack at the Hawaiian's 155-pound strap." | |

| Maynard vs. Diaz was definitely sloppy and unimpressive. Gray doesn't deserve a title shot after that performance. | |

| I think its the last at 155 for BJ. I think he beats Edgar easily and says goodbye to the division. | |

| And does what? Loses to GSP again?
No he stays and fights both Edgar, and should he beat him, then Gray. Opinions vary wildly on last nights fight. I like Maynard a lot and think he looks better with each passing fight.

| No way does Maynard get snubbed and never gets a shot at BJ. HE IS UNDEFEATED is a very deep weight class. | |

| Im not completely convinced he loses to GSP again and besides he only has so many fights left before he will be ready to give it up. He has already stated he wants GSP again and besides there are much better fights for him at WW. | |

| Just read this, so stoked Frankie got the shot, throw the loss to Gray out, I've posted the distractions he was going through at the time, he's a better fighter right now than Maynard. Gray will probably lose his next fight if he gets a KenFlo, Diego or Sherk. | |

| Im alot more excited about this fight than a Penn vs. Maynard.
It should be a Penn vs. Edgar and Sherk vs. Maynard.
I'd be happy with those two fights.

There are huge fights for him at WW and no more big fights at LW unless we start watching him beat K-Flow or Sherk again which I would rather see than Edgar getting a shot.

Penn has defended his belt 2.5 times. Let him clean out the division before we move him too much. It's not like Anderson who has 5 title defenses (should be 6 if Lutter made weight) or GSP who has 4 title defenses. Plus we've already seen Penn at 170 a bunch and guess what. He lost both title fights.

| He doesnt have to get a title shot to fight fitch or alves or another top 10 guy. I guess ur right he could stay and clean out the division more he has only beat like the top 4 or 5 guys in the division. | |

| The UFC really needs to bring in more non UFC talent. Half the top ten isn't even in the promotion. | |

| It was somewhat an exaggeration, but never the less there are at least five non UFC fighters who could contend with the Edgars, Kenflos and Maynards and there really isn't a reason to believe otherwise unless you get caught up in the idea that "if they were any good the UFC would have signed them already" or whatever. | |

| Aoki and Eddie sure, but guys like Melendez, Crusher, Hellboy I just see losing to guys like KenFlo, Edgar, Diego, Gray, Sherk or even Griffin at this point, could they win some of those fights, sure, but the majority of the time I have the UFC LWs winning. | |

| Honestly, regardless of what I say, you'll think the way u think, and I'll think my own way, I simply think they're better fighters, this way I save u the time by not having to write an essay. | |

What, exactly, does GSP need to do to BJ for you to be convinced he's better? If they fight again BJ is going to get abused, especially after BJ was such a cry baby about the greasing shit and then out of the blue BJ decides to acuse GSP of juicing... Yeah, they fight again and BJ might not walk out of the cage under his own power.
