Overeem turns down fight with Dos Santos

Coming off a win over Frank Mir at UFC 169, Alistair Overeem will likely find himself in a bout with title implications, however according to Dana White, it won't be against former champion Junior Dos Santos.

On the most recent episode of UFC Tonight, Dana White said that he offered Overeem a five round main event fight with Dos Santos, which he turned down. White also offered Overeem a three round co-main event against Dos Santos, which he also turned down.

White believes that Overeem is running from Dos Santos: "He wants nothing to do with dos Santos. He's literally hiding from him"

Overeem has no defense so yes he's running from him.

Overeem is a big pussy who had us fooled a year ago.

To me it depends when Dana wanted him to fight. JDS has been off a while so if they wanted Overeem to fight in like a month then hell no Overeem isn't hiding. Overeem came out late last night and said he has a rib injury right now so I would think that has far more to do with it then being scared. Dana try's these smear tactics to get fighters to do what he wants and I'm glad Overeem didn't take the bait.

Overeem is one of the most dangerous fighters on the planet. Calling him a pussy is a bit much lol.

Overeem would stand there like a deer in headlights. As soon as he would get hit it would be over and I hate JDS but he would knock his ass out.

Alistair Overeem said there are a couple good reasons he turned down a proposed fight with fellow UFC heavyweight Junior dos Santos.

Wednesday’s edition of “UFC Tonight” reported that Overeem (37-13 MMA, 2-2 UFC) turned down a five-round fight ex-champ dos Santos (16-3 MMA, 10-2 UFC) in Brazil, as well as a potential three-rounder in Las Vegas. UFC President Dana White characterized it as the Dutchman “literally hiding” from dos Santos.

But Overeem, on vacation in Jamaica, recently defended himself on Twitter:

He's injured yet he called out Lesnar fight after the fight. He's scared.

He made a mistake calling out Brock after the fight. That was very stupid of him but he isn't afraid of JDS.

He called out Brock just to get people talking about him and nothing else.

Overeem has already admitted it.

He admitted he is resting out of training and not in fight negotiations.  Dana White squats BS onto any story.  Don't be a DFW mark.

Explain what about this indicates fear. The only thing he sounds scared of is having to possible pull out of a fight with JDS.

If they would have told him Lesnar was available you damn sure better believe he would have jumped head first into that fight when he called him out after his recent win.

I would unless he was injured, then I'd expect him or most fighters to do what he has done here, not commit to a date until things are clear on his physical availability. Then I would make sure to not listen to a word a snake like White has to say regarding the issue.

I think when Sonnen vs Wanderlei was moved off of UFC 173 White didn't get what he wanted, OVereem vs JDS at UFC 173. and any amount of observation tells us White acts liek a 2-year old in full tantrum when he doesn't get what he wants.

Shitting on a guy who has every right to not commit to a fight date until he feel he is clear to approach his camp as healthily as he sees fit to ensure the best chance of meeting a date he obliged to is right up Dana White's vindictive alley.

Yeah I don't think Overeem is afraid of any man.
