Anyone seen the Richard Donner cut of Superman II?

Gonna have to watch both and decide for myself.

I own it and it's better. I guess you can say it's darker and totally different.

Hansel and Gretel: Absolutely terrible. Even with a decent cast and a built in audience type plot they still found a way to fuck it up. Nothing about the whole thing was believable, cohesive, or even loosely bound together by anything other than recurring character interaction. I'm honestly surprised they're filming a sequel already because this was garbage even without average expectations. A black eye on Renner's career as a lead. 2 out of 5 is generous.

I just found it hilarious that an English actress was using an American accent for a German character.

That looked like it would be one of the worst movies ever made. Nothing suggested it wouldn't be dog shit.

Herd is making a bet that Ironman 3 beats out The Great Gatsby this weekend.

Of course Iron Man three will beat the Great Gatsby. That is a dumb bet, not surprised cow patty is making it. But I do want to see the Great Gatsby.

Colin Cowherd is the worst thing on radio. Well sports radio. I'd rather listen to Mike North.

I am more interested to see if Star Trek:Into Darkness can topple Iron Man 3 this weekend internationally.

Yeah he is pretty bad. Worst in the lineup on ESPN by far.

Texas Chainsaw: It started off great. I wasn't sure if it was a direct continuation or a reboot of sorts initially with the hitchhiker who reminded Me alot of Nubbins, and the van of course. Some not so great developments in the second act, but to harp on those would just be nitpicking on the genre as a whole really. Third act is where everything goes pure cheese and kind of sucks the life out of what was, to that point, a respectable addition to the franchise. Things weren't terrible until the last ten minutes or so where seemingly the entirety of the movie prior to that point gets forgotten by the characters. 3 out of 5, the horrible ending not withstanding.

Finally watched Django Unchained.

It was an excellent film. Now being a huge QT fan i tend to rank it among his other movies though so thats where criticism comes from. I'm not sure it cracks my top 4 QT movies and it was weaker than it's predecessor(Inglorious Basterds)

The performances were amazing by Christoph Waltz, Leonardo Dicraprio and Samuel L. Jackson. Jamie Foxx role was so reserved through the movie it just didnt measure up to those and didnt really seem like a stand out performance for even him.

While i thought the scene with the white lynch mob struggling with the bags on their head was hilarious, i thought it was too intentionally over the top slapstick for a QT movie or even this particular movie. I did get a hardy LOL out of it though so i guess thats all that matters.

My only real gripe with the movie was i felt it kind of went the way of "Return of the King" for the last 20 minutes. The movie had the feel it was extremely close to ending right before it went on for another 20-25 minutes with a the same ending that could have been established when i thought it was going to happen. I guess that was just QT trying to give the Django character it's real big moment in the movie because all up to that point it was Waltz movie, but it was the first Tarantino movie where i thought "well, that could have been 20-25 minutes shorter".

Four Stars though.

Even though I didn't enjoy Iron Man 3 much I'd say the summer season has gotten off to a great start, I've got positive feelings about Man of Steel, Pacific Rim, The Wolverine and Elysium. Let the popcorn consumption continue !!!!

42: I don't normally even like these kinds of movies but I was intrigued by this from start to finish. I'm convinced that Harrison Ford had a fake nose on for the duration of the film, but that's neither here nor there. I liked how they really looked to capture just how much hostility there was for Jackie the country over, and not just in the south. Overall it was a fitting memorial to a man that forever changed things both in baseball and in America. 3.5 out of 5

Place Beyond the Pines: Honestly it's like Drive but if things had gone bad and Gosling's character had died. This same kind of story, albeit skewed to the other side in a few ways, focuses more on the aftermath of the choices we make and how they can come back to haunt and or liberate us years down the road. Early candidate for the best movie I've seen this year. 4.5 out of 5.

Snitch: What to say about this one? I came into this expecting something similar to Faster where the rock plays some lumbering big man with fury in his heart or some such bullshit but it wasn't like that at all. He actually took on the role of the average guy for about 80% of the movie(and when I say average guy I mean in terms of what the average man could accomplish under the right circumstances and motivations). Though his range of emotion is still somewhere between don't quit your day job and I've seen better in the eighth grade musical he managed to even make you feel for his character as things progressed. It reminded Me a bit of The Next Three Days in that it's sort of a question of how far a man is willing to go for his family. I gave it a 4 out of 5.

I finally watched the marathon of a movie that is Casino. I started it early in the morning about 9am and watched it in 3 parts pretty much throughout the day. Too long of a movie to watch all the way through. Even if it is a great movie.
