World War Z - I came in with very low expectations after all of the tepid reviews but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed WWZ. It wasn't as watered down and PG as I expected in fact it made me jump a few times, granted the massive speakers in the theater play there part in making that happen but there was a couple moments that were a bit dark and unsettling. Brad was solid as he usually is and still can't believe he's almost 50 now :shock:Overall WWZ is a solid movie that IMO doesn't deserve the flack it has been getting, sure the CGI zombies are a bit video gamey at times but they are no where near as bad as what we saw in I Am Legend. 4/5
I definitely want to read the book now.
Oh I almost forgot WWZ does feature one of the most blatant and hilarious product placements I have ever seen.

V/H/S/2 was tight, just like the first one. Watched the first one again also, good times. 4/5

That final sequence on the lake had the craziest filming angle. That must have taken them months to get it all right from that perspective.

The Purge: Disappointing really. The concept was great, but they didn't do enough telling the story. Character development really wasn't there, and some strange camera work made it feel cheap and lazy to Me. With what they had to work with it could have been so much more than it is. 2.5 out of 5.
Dead Man Down: Surprisingly a solid performance put forth by Collin Farrel. Terence Howard was, as usual, a solid piece to the supporting role puzzle. The twist unfolds a little early for Me, but it ended up playing out well enough. The end is a little cheesy, but it doesn't really overshadow the build up. 3 out of 5.

Dodgeball might be my favorite Ben Stiller performance EVA. Everything he does in that movie, he does so well.

Alex Cross - Awful. Bad acting, poor script and a weak villain. 2/5

Apartment 1303: One of those movies where not much of it takes place outside of more than 2-3 different places. They pull it off well except for a pretty underwhelming ending. Although as anticlimactic as it was they did a good job with what they were working with. Mischa Barton looks like a bag lady in it though. 3.5 out of 5.
Dark Feed: Probably one of the more disappointing movies I've seen this year. It had potential given the time tested concept but they just couldn't pull it off without fucking it up. Nothing really came together, nothing ever got explained, it was just kind of happening for the sake of happening. 2 out of 5.

World War Z if the real World War Z doesn't exist 7/10. A few good parts and some a few scenes with great pace and direction in the first half of the movie, the market scene was the films high point. Second half of the movie was not very good at all.
Real score 5/10, unfortunately disappointing. This film being made at all like this is an utter waste of a great story. Now I read this is supposed to be the first part of a trilogy... Very disappointing.

I try to keep novels seperate from adaptations cause they rarely live up to expectations. No movie can compete with the power of your imagination, novels have few limitations.

that is true. This adaption is not very good at all though compared to so many others who have done the originals great justice.

Viking Saga The Darkest Day: A historical epic set in he dark ages. Vikings invading Saxon lands in search of a book(it never really gets explained which book they're after). Two monks escape a monastery with the book and get pursued by Vikings when a lone Saxon solder who comes off as sort of a Templar aids these monks in their journey to keep the book safe. Not a bad way to spend an hour and a half, it's no Kingdom of Heaven or anything but it's about on par with Hammer of the Gods. 3 out of 5.

Olympus Has Fallen: Totally and utterly unbelievable in almost every sense. While watching I imagined the director in some interview saying "No. We totally didn't make a film based around 9/11 at all. We're not trying to profit off that with the imagery in the film. Not at all". Average at best, and that's being generous. The insurgent leader looked an awful lot like Yushin Okami for some reason. 2.5 out of 5.
Evil Dead: Exactly what I was hoping for really. The idea that sparked a cult classic re-imagined and benefiting from a real budget and modern effects. Not quite a remake/reboot, but more of a sequel to be honest. If you're already a fan of the franchise and haven't seen it, drop what you're doing and find a way right now. 4.5 out of 5.

Man of Steel was solid. This in every ways rivals the recent Batman films Nolan made. It is that level of quality. Well acted all around, functional story told well, sound and visuals check. Looking forward to the next one. 9.5/10
Makes it even that much more stupid that they cannot make good marvel movies.

Resolution: Similar to VHS in that it focuses on found media, although this one has a myriad of media types from CD's to film slides. The dialogue is downright hilarious at times but the overall flow is well done. Things get strange at the end but it's not a bad way to spend 90 minutes. 3.5 out of 5.

Speaking of VHS. Just watched it. Loved the first and fourth segments. None of them topped the first segment though. A couple of the others were pretty good. Didnt much care for the last one or the running narration story. Will watch the second one, maybe tonight if i can stream it online.
