In the end, all the hype in the world couldn't help Nick Diaz. UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre dominated UFC 158's main event from pillar to post, landing nine of his 16 takedown attempts, outstriking Diaz 210 to 80 (according to Fightmetric), and claiming all five rounds on the judges' scorecards to retain his title for the eighth consecutive time. The win was St-Pierre's 18th in the UFC, a mark that ties him with his former rival, Matt Hughes, as the most in the promotion's history.

Up next for the Canadian will be Johny Hendricks, the bearded four-time All-American who solidified his status as No. 1 contender with a thrilling, ‘Fight of the Year' candidate victory over Carlos Condit in UFC 158's co-main event. I'm surprised by those reactions to Hendricks, it wasn't hard to score.

Not hard to score just an example of how silly putting emphasis on takedowns that lead to nothing are. 1 guard pass in 12 takedowns and I'm not sure he landed a single strike on the ground. That shouldn't be worth anything

End of the day, it's worth a lot more than constantly being unable to stop getting dumped on your ass. Nothing about what Condit was able to accomplish in the 2nd made me think he had an argument to win that round. He opened up his striking a little more but was still eating lefts and couldn't offer any resistance to Johhny taking him down, his back game was active but was not winning him anything there.

Not when you take zero damage and even outland the guy from your back and win the standup exchanges every time you get back up.

Active from the back doesn't mean effective from the back. Hendricks was not threatened and well defended from Condits back game.

Why would he be threatened, all he did was land a takedown keep his hands locked until Condit would kick him off and get back up 30 seconds later. Nothing there, you have to do something with takedowns. Chael and GSP don't get on top of guys and not throw strikes and do zero damage. There isn't a comparison between good effective wrestling and what Hendricks brought last night

everyone who says Hendricks won that fight becuase of his tackdowns would all say if there was 2 more rounds Condit wins the fight..

yet another example of pointless takedowns.. Condit was way more effective off of his back than he was on top..

Only Seth thought it was a bad decision. Everyone knew Hendricks won.

No one is debating that, just pointing out a glaring flaw in judging made evident in a huge fight

never said Hendricks didnt win a Scorecard .. I understand how they judge things..

but takedowns where no damage is done OR takedowns where you can't even keep control shouldn't matter so much..

now I did say 2 more rounds and condit finishes

I think with two more rounds Condit probably would of got the rounds he needed or a finish. Unless the third was simply because it was the third, he would of needed the pressure he brought that round back in the fourth and fifth to seal it.

People are acting like all Hendricks did was lay on top of Condit did they forget the multiple times Johny lit Carlos up ?

i gave the fight to johnny, but he really didn't do anything with the td's. Carlos was doing more from the bottom in the 2nd round. I'll cut johnny some slack since he says he hurt his hand, probably made him change his game plan

He did smash Condit in the head quite a few times. Condit only handed one big punch and a big knee here or there.
